An aspiring National Organiser of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Daniel Nii Kwartei Titus-Glover, has called on the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) to begin its internal investigations into alleged vote-buying with President John Dramani Mahama.
He insisted that the probe must be fair and non-selective, pointing to allegations that Mr Mahama distributed GH₵40 to each delegate during the party’s 2023 presidential primaries.
Speaking on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem programme, the former Greater Accra Regional Minister emphasised that the committee investigating inducement allegations in the Ayawaso East parliamentary primary should not overlook issues involving the former president.
“President John Mahama shared GH₵40 to each delegate during the NDC’s presidential primary elections in 2023. If the party is serious about tackling vote-buying, then it must start with him,” the former Tema East MP emphasised.
The three-member committee, set up to examine reports of bribery during the primary held on February 7, 2026, is expected to submit its findings on February 10.
Among the matters under review is an allegation that Baba Jamal, Ghana’s former High Commissioner to Nigeria, gave delegates money, television sets, and other items to influence their votes.
Titus-Glover further urged the Majority Caucus in Parliament to withdraw its statement calling for the annulment of the primary results.
He also alleged that the Majority Caucus in Parliament and the seat of government, Jubilee House, are supporting the spouse of the late Ayawaso East MP in a bid to block Baba Jamal’s election.
However, the NDC Member of Parliament for Akrofuom, Joseph Azumah, denied assertions that the presidency and the Majority Caucus in Parliament are backing Hajia Amina Adams.
He therefore called for calm as the nation awaits the report of the three-member committee set up by the party.
