Tiger Eye Private Investigations (Tiger Eye PI) has dismissed what it describes as renewed attempts by former Ghana Football Association (GFA) President, Kwesi Nyantakyi, to spread misinformation about the Number 12 corruption exposé.

In a statement, Tiger Eye PI clarified that its Chief Executive Officer, Anas Aremeyaw Anas, did not have a personal case against Mr. Nyantakyi in court.

The organisation explained that the criminal case was between the Republic of Ghana and Mr. Nyantakyi, who faced charges including fraud.

According to Tiger Eye PI, Anas had agreed to testify as a prosecution witness following the murder of lead investigator Ahmed Suale, who had reportedly received threats from Mr. Nyantakyi.

However, Anas later withdrew after a court ruled that he could testify without a mask, a condition the organisation said would have exposed him to serious danger.

Tiger Eye PI noted that the case against Mr. Nyantakyi was discontinued by the Attorney-General despite what it described as overwhelming evidence, stressing that he was not acquitted on the merits of the case.

The organisation further cited FIFA’s sanctions against Mr. Nyantakyi, including a fine and a long-term ban from football-related activities, as confirmation of his misconduct following the Number 12 investigation.

Tiger Eye PI also disclosed that Mr. Nyantakyi had previously filed a defamation suit against Anas but later abandoned the case.

The group has therefore urged the public to disregard what it calls attempts to rewrite history through misinformation, reaffirming its commitment to fighting corruption.

Tiger Eye PI has taken note, once again, of yet another frantic attempt by Mr. Kwesi Nyantakyi to peddle misinformation and disinformation about one of the most consequential investigations in African football history — Number 12.

It is important to place on record that the CEO of Tiger Eye PI, Anas Aremeyaw Anas, had no case against Mr. Nyantakyi in court that he needed to prove. The case before the court was between the Republic of Ghana and Mr. Kwesi Nyantakyi, who was being prosecuted for several offences, including fraud. It is therefore bizarre—though not unusual—that Mr. Nyantakyi continues to misrepresent the matter as “Anas vs. Nyantakyi.”

Anas offered to testify as a prosecution witness after our lead investigator, Ahmed Suale, who had been threatened by Mr. Nyantakyi, was brutally assassinated.

Anas declined to testify only after the trial judge ruled that he must testify in camera but without a mask. This would have exposed him to grave danger, particularly in a country where the murder of Ahmed Suale remains unresolved.

Tiger Eye PI made it clear that Anas’ testimony was strictly contingent on his safety, including not revealing his face to Mr. Nyantakyi. This position was non-negotiable.

The case was withdrawn by the Attorney-General despite overwhelming evidence of fraud, impersonation, and other criminal conduct. Mr. Nyantakyi was not acquitted on the merits; the case collapsed solely because of a flawed prosecutorial decision to discontinue proceedings following Anas’ withdrawal.

FIFA found Mr. Nyantakyi guilty of misconduct and, in addition to a $500,000 fine, imposed a life ban, later reduced to ten years. Mr. Nyantakyi lost his position as a FIFA executive member and President of the Ghana Football Association as a result of the exposé. This confirms that the decision by the Government of Ghana to drop criminal charges had no justification.

Mr. Nyantakyi filed a defamation and breach-of-privacy suit against Anas but later abandoned it. He has instead chosen to litigate in the court of public opinion alongside Kennedy Agyapong. If he is credible, he should return to court.

We understand that Mr. Nyantakyi may be seeking to rehabilitate his damaged reputation. However, history cannot be rewritten with lies, distortions, or propaganda.

Tiger Eye PI urges the public to disregard this latest attempt at deception.

Tiger Eye PI remains unwavering in its mission to confront corruption in fulfilment of its mandate to “Name, Shame, and Jail.”
