The Ghana Meteorological Agency (GMet) has issued a weather forecast warning of thunderstorms and heavy rainfall across several parts of the country, particularly in the southern and coastal regions.

According to the alert, cloudy conditions will dominate the early morning in the south, with thunderstorms and rain expected to intensify as the day progresses.

Cities including Accra, Kasoa, Cape Coast, Takoradi, Axim, Ho, and Koforidua are forecast to experience thunderstorms from afternoon into evening.

In the middle and northern belts, towns such as Akim Oda, Kete Krachi, Kintampo, Yendi, Tamale, Bolgatanga, Wa, and Bole are also expected to see increased rainfall and thunderstorms in the evening.

While the north will start the day sunny, rain and thunderstorms are likely later.

The sea state has been classified as rough.

GMet advises the public, especially those in low-lying and flood-prone areas, to take precautions and stay updated as the weather may cause localized flooding or travel disruptions.

Additionally, mist and fog patches are expected in mountainous and forest areas in the morning, potentially affecting visibility and early travel plans.
