The Ashanti Regional Police Command has secured the conviction and sentencing of three teenage suspects involved in a violent daylight robbery in the Asokore Mampong Municipality.
According to a police statement, the incident occurred on Monday, July 1, 2025, between 7:00 a.m. and 8:30 a.m., when the suspects—identified as Mamudu Issah, Samuel Takyi, and Alhassan Abubakari, all aged 18—carried out a series of armed attacks on residents of Boubai.
Armed with machetes and riding unregistered motorbikes, the trio, along with three accomplices who are currently on the run, robbed several individuals of mobile phones, bags, and cash.

However, their activities were short-lived as community volunteers tracked them to their hideout in Aboabo later that same day. They were apprehended and handed over to police. Ten mobile phones and three bags believed to have been stolen were retrieved during the arrest.
The suspects were arraigned before the Atasemanso Circuit Court in Kumasi on July 8, 2025, where they pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit robbery and seven counts of robbery.

In addition, Mamudu Issah pleaded guilty to a separate charge of causing harm.
The court sentenced Mamudu Issah to 10 years’ imprisonment on each robbery-related charge and three years for causing harm—all to run concurrently. Samuel Takyi and Alhassan Abubakari were each handed 10 years’ imprisonment, also to run concurrently.

The convicts have since been transferred to the Central Prisons in Kumasi to begin serving their sentences.
The Police Command expressed appreciation to the public, particularly the community volunteers, for their swift intervention and cooperation.

Meanwhile, a manhunt has been launched to apprehend the remaining accomplices. Police are appealing to the public to provide any information that may lead to their arrest.
