Three people have been rushed to the Kumasi South Hospital for treatment after a stampede at the New Patriotic Party (NPP) National Delegates Conference at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi.
Accra-based Citi News reported that the incident occurred as some people in the crowded conference grounds attempted to force their way through, triggering a rush that left several people injured.
One of the victims is reported to have sustained a fracture, while others suffered minor injuries and are receiving treatment at temporary medical centres established at the venue.
Paramedics from the Ghana National Ambulance Service reportedly faced difficulties transporting the injured through the large crowd gathered for the conference.
The incident prompted the police to step up crowd control measures to manage the situation and prevent further injuries.
