Three Ghanaian athletes have reportedly gone missing from the Team Ghana camp following the conclusion of the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland.
The multi-sport event officially ended on Sunday, but officials of the Ghana delegation are yet to establish the whereabouts of the three athletes who are said to have left the team’s base.
The athletes identified as missing are para athlete Zinabu Issah, boxer Daniel Plange and Precious Akai Nettey.
Issah made headlines for Ghana at the Games after winning a bronze medal in the women’s shot put event, while Daniel Plange also secured bronze in the men’s 90+ kg boxing category.
Plange suffered a 0-5 defeat to Northern Ireland’s William John McCartan in his final bout of the competition.
Meanwhile, Akai Nettey started her campaign on a positive note after defeating Fiji’s Elijah Qiokata by second-round stoppage at the SSE Hydro in Glasgow.
Her medal hopes, however, ended at the quarterfinal stage after she lost by unanimous decision on points to Mauritius’ Merven Clair.
Officials of Team Ghana are currently unaware of the athletes’ whereabouts and are making efforts to locate them.
Team Ghana arrived in Glasgow with a 40-member athlete contingent and ended the 2026 Commonwealth Games campaign with two medals.
