Ghana midfielder Thomas Partey’s court appearance on charges of rape and sexual assault has been postponed to September 15, 2025.
The 32-year-old was originally scheduled to appear before London’s Old Bailey on Monday, September 2, but the case has now been rescheduled and transferred to Southwark Crown Court.
Partey faces five counts of rape involving two women, as well as an additional charge of sexual assault against a third woman.
The alleged incidents reportedly occurred between 2021 and 2022 during his time at Arsenal. The charges were filed just four days after his contract with the Premier League club expired at the end of June.
Despite the legal proceedings, Partey has joined the Black Stars’ training camp in Accra ahead of Ghana’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Chad and Mali. He reported to camp on Tuesday, September 2, and is expected to feature in both matches.
Ghana will travel to N’Djamena to face Chad on Thursday, September 4, before returning to Accra to host Mali on Monday, September 8. Now a player for Spanish side Villarreal after leaving Arsenal, the former Atlético Madrid midfielder is set to play a key role as the Black Stars aim to secure qualification for their fifth World Cup.
Ghana currently tops Group I with 15 points from six matches.
