Ghana midfielder Thomas Partey says he is happy with his first appearance for Al Shabab despite the club being held to a goalless draw by Al Khaleej in the Saudi Pro League.
The 33-year-old made his debut as a 58th-minute substitute for Ali Al Asmari at the Prince Mohamed bin Fahd Stadium after joining Al Shabab as a free agent following his departure from Spanish side Villarreal.
Partey helped bring control to midfield as Al Shabab searched for a breakthrough, but neither side was able to find the decisive goal.
“I think it’s amazing and I like it. It’s my first game here, and I thought we did great,” the Black Stars vice-captain said after the match.
“We could have scored; we had a chance to score, but it’s part of football. We have to keep working hard and try to get three points in our next game.”
He also pledged his commitment to the club, adding: “I will do my best to give everything to this club, and I am really happy to be here.”
The draw earned Al Shabab their first point of the new league season after they opened the campaign with a 3-1 home defeat to Al Qadsiah.
Partey will hope to make his first start for the club when Al Shabab host Al Riyadh later today at 18:00 GMT.
