A young man has been arrested at Kumasi Magazine following a failed attempt to steal a mobile phone while purchasing a vehicle starter.
According to eyewitnesses, the suspect initially visited the auto-parts shop to buy a vehicle starter. While the attendant was processing the sale, he allegedly tried to take advantage of the moment to slip a mobile phone off the counter and hurriedly leave.
Unaware of the theft at first, the shop owner later reviewed CCTV footage and discovered the missing phone. The video reportedly showed the customer pocketing the device before exiting the shop.
In a twist of irony, the suspect returned to the same shop hours later, this time to complain that the starter he purchased was faulty and needed a replacement.
As soon as he re-entered, the owner confronted him and raised an alarm, prompting bystanders to apprehend him.
He was subsequently handed over to police officers stationed nearby.
