They served with unflinching commitment – Lands Minister eulogises helicopter crash victims

Lands and Natural Resources Minister Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah has paid a glowing tribute to eight people, including two ministers, who lost their lives in the military helicopter crash on August 6.

Speaking for the first time since the incident, Mr. Buah admitted that the past three days had left him struggling to find the right words to capture the depth of the loss.

In his tribute on Facebook, the Ellembelle MP, who was visibly shaken upon receipt of the news, described the incident as “profoundly painful and devastating.”

He highlighted the contributions of the late Defence Minister, Dr. Edward Omane Boamah; Environment Minister, Dr. Murtala Muhammed; Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator, Alhaji Limuna Mohammed Muniru; Dr. Samuel Sarpong; Samuel Aboagye; and the crew members who were on board.

The military crew members who perished were Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala, Flying Officer Mane-Twum Ampadu, and Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah.

“These were patriots who served Ghana with unwavering dedication. Their sacrifice in the line of duty will remain forever engraved in our nation’s history and in our hearts. They were heroes, fallen soldiers in the quest for a better Ghana,” he said.

The Minister also extended his deepest condolences to the bereaved families and prayed for the peaceful rest of the departed.

Meanwhile, a burial in line with Islamic tradition has been scheduled for Dr. Murtala Muhammed and Alhaji Limuna on Sunday, August 10, with a state burial for all victims scheduled for August 15.
