These gallant men were the very embodiment of Ghana’s highest aspirations – Speaker of Parliament

Rt. Hon. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin Speaker of the Parliament of Ghana

Speaker of Parliament, Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, has paid an emotional tribute to the eight prominent Ghanaians who perished in the August 6 helicopter crash.

He described them as “the very embodiment of Ghana’s highest aspirations.”

The victims include former Defence Minister Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, MP for Tamale Central Alhaji Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed, former Minister Alhaji Muniru Mohammed Limuna, Dr. Samuel Sarpong, Mr. Samuel Aboagye, Squadron Leader Peter Baafemi Anala, Flying Officer Manaen Twum-Ampadu, and Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah.

The Speaker said the fallen were not only leaders and professionals but compassionate citizens whose contributions touched families, communities, and the nation at large.

He recalled how some of them had only recently attended the funerals of political comrades, unaware that their own lives would be cut short soon after.

“They were ministers whose visionary policies sowed seeds of progress, technocrats whose expertise steered our nation’s course, and courageous crew members who served with diligence until their final breaths,” Bagbin stated.

Extending Parliament’s condolences to the bereaved families, he urged Ghanaians to draw strength from the lives the departed lived, noting that their legacies would remain “etched in the laws they championed, the institutions they strengthened, and the hope they inspired.”
