A researcher, financial economist, and chartered accountant, Dr. Evans Duah, has predicted that Kennedy Agyapong will emerge as the winner of the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) flagbearer race, insisting that the ranking of candidates is unlikely to change.
Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen show, Dr. Duah said findings from a three-wave research study indicate that Ken Agyapong continues to gain momentum, while his main contenders are recording either declines or only marginal growth.
According to him, in the worst-case scenario, Ken Agyapong’s support rose from 41.73% to 47.07%, while Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia moved from 39.09% to 39.51% before dropping sharply to 35.92% as of January 9. He added that Bryan Acheampong also declined from 11.34% to 8.22%.
Dr. Duah further noted that in the best-case scenario, Ken Agyapong is the only candidate projected to cross the 50% plus one threshold, increasing from 51.49% to 52.59%, while Dr. Bawumia rose from 31.26% to 36.24%.
He explained that the research was conducted with a margin of error of ±0.5 at a 95% confidence level, stressing that while vote margins may fluctuate, the ranking of candidates is unlikely to shift.
“Therefore, for the elections, the order of candidates cannot change, but the margins can. Our researchers conducted interviews to gather this data,” he stated.
