The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Atiwa West, Johnson Amo Anom, has advised teachers to consider engaging in additional work outside their regular teaching duties to supplement their income.
According to him, the current salaries of teachers are often not enough to sustain a decent standard of living.
He, therefore, encouraged educators to explore alternative sources of income to support themselves and their families.
Mr. Anom gave the advice at Kwabeng during the 54th district conference of the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT), which also marked the 50th anniversary of the Ghana Education Service (GES).
The conference was held under the theme: “GES at 50: Achievements, Teacher Motivation, Challenges, and the Way Forward.”
The event focused on celebrating key milestones of the GES while also addressing persistent challenges in the education sector.
Some invited guests used the platform to appeal to the GES to enhance the standard of programme implementation and ensure that all initiatives are supported with adequate logistics.
Others, however, commended the GES for its achievements over the past five decades.
