Targeted Rights Initiative launches #SpeakUpSpeakOut campaign

A non-profit organisation, Targeted Rights Initiative (TRI), has officially launched the #SpeakUpSpeakOut campaign — a bold and transformative initiative aimed at confronting technology-facilitated gender-based violence (TFGBV), promoting support for survivors, and strengthening digital safety awareness in Ghana.

TRI is an advocacy group focused on gender-based violence prevention and digital rights education, particularly for marginalised and vulnerable communities, to help them access the digital world without fear of exploitation.

With the increasing impact of online abuse and digital harassment—particularly against women and girls—the #SpeakUpSpeakOut campaign offers a multi-pronged response that blends advocacy, education, healing, and support.

“The goal is to raise awareness and create a safer digital space where women and marginalized groups are seen, heard, and protected,” said Doreen Raheena Sulleyman, Executive Director of Targeted Rights Initiative.
“We are challenging the silence, stigma, and systems that enable digital violence,” she added.

Running over the next six months, the campaign will focus on:

  • Powerful survivor-led storytelling through quotes, micro-stories, and creative visuals

  • A weekly online series on digital rights and safety, mental wellness, and reporting mechanisms

  • Community dialogues and school outreach to engage young people, educators, parents, and opinion leaders

  • A virtual support group for victims and survivors to connect, co-create solutions, and amplify voices

  • Workshops, exhibitions, and reflective sessions to build solidarity and public awareness

TRI has invited stakeholders across civil society, the media, tech platforms, schools, and communities to join the campaign, collaborate, and act.
