Abigail Salami, wife of the late Samuel Aboagye, Acting Deputy Director-General of Operations at the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), has delivered a heartfelt tribute following his death in the August 6, 2025, helicopter crash.
The widow reflected on their final exchange before the tragedy, remembering his last words to her: “Take care, babe. I love you.” She said those words would forever echo in her heart, not as a mere goodbye, but as a lasting promise of his love.
Speaking at the state funeral in Accra, Abigail described her late husband as a man of remarkable strength, wisdom, and purpose, whose devotion to his family and profession left a lasting impression on all who knew him.
“He excelled in his career with tireless commitment and touched everyone around him with his presence. I witnessed his growth, his patience, his wisdom, and his expanding capacity to love,” she said.
She expressed the deep void left by his passing, saying, “This world may have lost you, but I will carry your love with me always. You were my partner, my safe place, my joy, and my best friend.”
She spoke of how his resilience carried their family through life’s challenges and how his love built a home filled with joy, peace, and unity.
“From the moment you entered my life, you gave me unwavering love, joy, protection, and the beautiful honour of becoming your wife,” she recalled, noting that their daughters stand as living proof of the bond they shared.
She prayed for his eternal rest and vowed to preserve his memory.
“Rest peacefully, Eniola Aboagye, as I affectionately call you. Until we meet again, I will hold onto our love—unbroken by time, untouched by death. You will always be my forever,” she said.
