The incident occurred during the NPP’s “Thank You Tour” in the Bantama Constituency of the Ashanti Region.

Eyewitnesses say the victim, part of a group of students from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), was threatened multiple times with pistols by the assailants, who later fired eight warning shots into the air.

The confrontation reportedly began when the students attempted to prevent the armed men from taking away cash presented after the event.

During the scuffle, the victim—whose identity is being withheld—was stabbed in the upper right rib.

Medical staff at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital’s emergency unit confirmed that the victim is in stable condition after undergoing minor surgery.

According to members of the student group, the first altercation occurred inside an auditorium where NPP leaders were addressing supporters.

They allege they were threatened after chanting songs in support of Kennedy Agyapong.

“One of the guys brandished a gun, and when one of our members confronted him, he put the gun away and walked off,” an eyewitness recounted.

Tensions escalated after the group received an undisclosed sum of money from an unidentified individual. The armed men allegedly intercepted the cash and again threatened the students at gunpoint.

After the students called for support in an attempt to retrieve the money, another confrontation erupted. The assailants reportedly fired into the air.

“When I confronted the guys, they spoke in Hausa. We tried to reason with them to return at least some of the money. They gave us GH¢200, which was too small,” a witness said.

“When we pushed further, one of them pulled a gun and fired eight shots into the air. As we ran for our lives, one of them drew a knife and stabbed my colleague.”

The incident has been reported to the police, who have retrieved eight spent bullet casings from the scene.

Kennedy Agyapong, the former MP for Assin Central, visited the victim at Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital on Monday evening.

Sources close to Joy News suggest that Mr. Agyapong may be considering withdrawing from the ongoing NPP “Thank You Tour” following the incident.

Staunch NPP supporter bemoans neglect after amputation of his leg https://www.adomonline.com/staunch-npp-supporter-bemoans-neglect-after-amputation-of-his-leg/ Mon, 12 Dec 2022 17:51:10 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2194258 Alhaji Ahmed Bandoh alias Bahmed, a member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), is beside himself with grief as a result of what he describes as neglect from his political party.

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Bahmed Travel and Tours is currently on admission at the Police Hospital in Accra after his left leg was amputated.

According to the former Asante Kotoko board member, no member of the NPP has visited him at the hospital although some top officials of the party are aware of his current condition.

As to what led to his leg amputation, he said he had a cut while wearing his football boots and a few days later, it turned into a sore which got out of hand within weeks.

“I have been loyal to the NPP, and former President Kufuor will bear me witness. Jake Obetsebi Lamptey of blessed memory would have done same,” a dejected Alhaji Bandoh said.

“No party member has been here to at least sympathise with me, but l can say on authority that l have paid my dues as far as this party is concerned.

Man in court for insulting NPP MP https://www.adomonline.com/man-in-court-for-insulting-npp-mp/ Fri, 22 Apr 2022 12:35:37 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2107655 An Accra District Court has granted a GHC10,000.00 bail with two sureties to a businessman who allegedly insulted Carlos Ahenkorah, Member of Parliament (MP) for the Tema West Constituency.

Nana Yaw Ntim pleaded not guilty to offensive conduct.

Meanwhile, the case has been referred to the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for an Alternate Dispute Resolution (ADR).

The parties are expected to be back in court on May 24, 2022, to give a report on the settlement.

The Defense Counsel in praying for bail said the party had existing structures to settle the matter and that the accused had people of substance to stand as sureties, adding that the case did not warrant public resources for him to be remanded.

He then prayed for the court to refer the matter to the ADR.

The prosecution told the court presided over by Madam Ama Adomako Kwakye that the accused person was a resident of Dwahenya near Tema and a member of the NPP in the same Constituency.

It said on February3, 2022, the complainant petitioned the Director-General of the Criminal Investigations Department of the Ghana Police Service against the accused for allegedly constantly raining insults on him on party WhatsApp platforms called, ‘Vibrant 2024 NPP,’ and ‘Speak your mind NPP,’ without any provocation.

The court heard that the MP also submitted a pen drive containing the voice recordings of the accused person to the police as evidence.

In the recording, the accused person was heard uttering abusive words against the MP.

The prosecution said the accused person was arrested on February 7, 2022, for investigation, where he admitted some of the voice recordings and claimed that some of them were doctored.
