Messi’s comments come a day after he turned up unexpectedly at Spotify Camp Nou to visit the stadium as it is redeveloped, posting the images on social media with a caption saying he hoped to “return for the goodbye I never got to say as a player.”

“We miss Barcelona a lot,” Messi told Diario Sport. “With the kids, continuously, and my wife, we speak about things in Barcelona. The idea is to return there to live. We have our house there, everything, so that’s what we want.”

Messi’s Camp Nou drop-in surprised everyone on Sunday. Having arrived in Barcelona ahead of joining up with the Argentina camp in Alicante, he decided to pay an impromptu visit to the arena, sources told ESPN, accompanied by club and international teammate Rodrigo De Paul.

Security staff let him in, where he took the photographs on the pitch which would go on to receive over 22 million likes on Instagram within the first 24 hours of being posted.

It was the first time Messi had been back at Camp Nou since 2021, when he left Barcelona for Paris Saint-Germain.

“I am really looking forward to getting back to the stadium when it’s finished because I moved to Paris and I never returned to Camp Nou,” he had told Sport in the interview, which was conducted in Miami before the weekend visit.

“And then Barça moved to [the Olympic Stadium in] Montjuïc. It will be strange to go back and see it because the last time I saw it was a long time ago. It will be emotional to get back there and remember everything that was.”

Barça have been playing at the Olympic Stadium since 2023 due to a €1.5 billion refurbishment that is being carried out on Camp Nou.

The club held an open training session there last week in front of 23,000 fans and hope to return before the end of the year when the council grant them a permit to host matches with around 45,000 spectators.

The stadium is unlikely to be completely finished until at least 2027, though, at which point the capacity will have increased to 105,000.

Barça president Joan Laporta has said he would love to inaugurate Camp Nou with a tribute match for Messi. And, while Messi has never strictly commented on that possibility, he does still feel he has unfinished business with the club where he remains the record goal scorer and appearance holder.

“It’s a strange feeling after leaving, because of how it all happened, because I spent my final seasons there playing without fans due to the pandemic,” he said. “After spending all my life there, I didn’t leave as I had dreamed of.

“I imagined myself spending my whole career in Europe in Barcelona and then coming here [to Miami], as I did, because that was my plan. It was what I wanted. So, my goodbye was a little strange, because of the situation.”

Walker wants to ‘explore’ Man City exit – Guardiola https://www.adomonline.com/walker-wants-to-explore-man-city-exit-guardiola/ Sun, 12 Jan 2025 08:29:13 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2491941 Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola says he will not stand in Kyle Walker’s way if the England defender decides to quit the club during this month’s transfer window.

Walker was left out of the City squad for their 8-0 FA Cup third-round victory over League Two Salford even though Guardiola had only two recognised defenders in his starting line-up.

The 34-year-old England international still has 18 months left on his contract.

However, Guardiola said the City skipper went to see director of football Txiki Begiristain on Thursday to explain his desire to look at an exit.

“Two days ago Kyle asked to explore the options to play abroad,” said Guardiola.

“We cannot understand [what] the club did these years without Kyle. It’s impossible. He’s been our right-back, giving us something we didn’t have. But now in his mind, for many reasons, he would like to explore if he can go to another country to play his last years.”

Asked if Walker would be granted his wish if he said he wanted to leave, Guardiola said: “Of course.

“It doesn’t mean it’s going to happen because you never know the situation. But I am pretty convinced there’s no-one in our job that doesn’t want to be there who can perform and be exactly what they want to be.”

Guardiola added Walker had initially asked to leave City in the wake of their historic Treble success in 2023. Guardiola said German giants Bayern Munich had told Walker they wanted to sign him but had failed to match the fee City demanded.

It is unlikely there will be a similar problem this time around as Guardiola is already committed to refreshing a squad that has struggled badly during the first half of the season.

City have already agreed a £33.6m deal with French club Lens for Uzbekistan international defender Abdukodir Khusanov. They are also in negotiations with Brazilian side Palmeiras for teenage defender Vitor Reis and are keen on Eintracht Frankfurt forward Omar Marmoush.

According to him, despite the stress members go through in meeting the numerous demands of constituents and the electorate, it seems their efforts are still disregarded.

“I simply do not get satisfaction when I feel some people are just exploiting me. When I feel that some people are taking my leniency for granted and sometimes I feel terribly let down,” he said.

Speaking on Joy FM’s Super Morning show, he explained this reason caused his exit from the August House after 16 years of service.

Mr Fuseini, who entered Parliament in 2006, announced his plans of exiting Parliament to pursue a career in law.

VzVee has, however, debunked the rumours in a latest interview with TV3, insisting that at the time of going into music, she wasn’t really prepared.

She explained that even though she wasn’t prepared for the music industry, she tried her best to be productive.

Another thing that was rumoured about the musician’s exit was issues of contract she was allegedly facing with the Linx label.

The Founder and Leader of the Glorious Word and Power Ministry, Rev. Isaac Owusu Bempah wants Kwasi Appiah, the Black Stars coach to concentrate on local players following the team’s exit in this year’s African Cup of Nations being played in Egypt.

The controversial man of God, who claims he had played football before and therefore had a fair knowledge of football, expressing his view after Black Stars was kicked out on Monday, said coach Appiah lacks the tactical skill to coach a team.

He said if the coach still wants to maintain his job, then he needs to be tactical and also concentrate mainly on local players to build firm confidence in them.

“I have played football before and discussed football on radio some years ago and so I know more about football and I must say the coach has not done well for the team. If he really wants to continue coaching the team then he should also concentrate on our local players.

“There is one guy who plays for Hearts and he is a defender, he is very good but he has not even gotten a chance in the national team and so he needs to look at that to build their confidence. Asamoah Gyan set for China exit https://www.adomonline.com/asamoah-gyan-set-china-exit/ Fri, 12 May 2017 07:00:18 +0000 http://35.232.176.128/ghana-news/?p=115781 Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan has stated that he has received a lot of offers from clubs as his contract with Chinese side SIPG is set to expire.

The Black Stars captain has spent the last year on loan with UAE giants Al Ahli where he has had limited game time due to injuries.

Reports in China indicate that Shanghai SIPG will not use the option to extend Gyan’s two-year deal signed in July 2015 due to these niggling injuries which have given him few minuteson the field both in China and UAE.

With two months remaining on his contract with the  Chinese side, Gyan remains confident of landing another deal elsewhere as a result of the many offers he has received.

‘Now I have a lot of options,” he said.

”I do not want to mention names, but there is a lot on the table. I will decide at the end of the season.”

Gyan has managed to score five goals in 13 league appearances which includes eight starts and been substituted on five times. He has scored 49 goals for Ghana and could make the 50 mark should he play and score against Ethiopia in the 2019 AFCON qualifier.
