The register contains the names of eligible voters for the December 7 election.

The EC Chairperson, Jean Mensa, made the presentation in a meeting with party representatives on Wednesday, November 6.

Addressing the media, she said that the presentation fulfilled a promise made during the last IPAC meeting when a soft copy was made available.

She noted that after the template was issued, no political party sent any complaints or comments.

“At the meeting of IPAC on October 15, we indicated that this presentation would be made to you by the end of the first week of November. However, with the help of God, we have been able to do that two days before the 8th, which signifies the end of the first week of November.

“Following the exhibition of the revised PVR, the commission received a total of 158 issues from voters across the country,” she said.

She emphasized the register’s critical role in promoting a transparent and credible electoral process.

“I am pleased to note that all the issues have been resolved, and as we speak, we have no further issues regarding the final voters’ register. I am pleased to note that we now have a robust and credible final certified voters’ register, which is fit to deliver a credible, transparent, fair, peaceful, and glorious election on December 7, 2024,” she said.

EC manipulating voter’s register to influence election outcome – NDC alleges https://www.adomonline.com/ec-manipulating-voters-register-to-influence-election-outcome-ndc-alleges/ Wed, 18 Sep 2024 12:55:58 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2450547 The Deputy Director of Elections and IT for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Dr Rashid Tanko-Computer, has accused the Electoral Commission (EC) of manipulating the voter’s register, describing it as a covert strategy to influence the outcome of the upcoming elections.

In an interview with Joy News, he expressed serious concerns over the EC’s recent handling of the electoral roll, claiming that discrepancies and irregularities in the register could pave the way for election malpractice.

“The EC is manipulating the voter’s register, and since observers are not noticing these changes, they assume everything is in order. But by the time they realize what’s happening, it’s too late—the register has already been tampered with. As a result, we could head into the election using a tainted register, allowing illegalities to occur,” Dr Tanko-Computer asserted.

The NDC official further criticised the EC for allegedly bypassing legal procedures for voter transfers.

He explained that while CI 91 governs the overall voter registration process, transfers should be conducted under CI 127, Regulation 22. According to Dr Tanko-Computer, the EC has ignored this provision.

“Voters are required to appear before a returning officer with their voter ID to request a transfer. For instance, if a voter moves from Accra to Kumasi and wishes to vote in Bantama, they must appear in person, provide biometric data, and have their details updated accordingly,” he explained.

However, he accused the EC, under the leadership of Chairperson Jean Mensa, of transferring voters remotely using only voter ID numbers and photographs, without any face-to-face interaction with returning officers. “For the first time, we are seeing voter transfers happening from the EC office, without voters physically appearing before officers,” he added.

Dr Tanko-Computer also raised alarm over what he called the existence of multiple versions of the voter’s register. During a meeting between the NDC and the EC, the party discovered that the register presented to them was different from the one made public.

“We realised the EC was operating with at least three versions of the voter’s register. When we questioned this and requested the corrected version, the EC failed to provide us with any updates. It seems they are working with information we are not privy to,” he stated.

The NDC has called on the Electoral Commission to address these concerns urgently, warning that the credibility of the entire election process could be compromised if the discrepancies are not resolved.

He urged the EC to provide full transparency in their operations and release an accurate and unified version of the voter’s register to all political stakeholders.

The NDC held a nationwide protest on Tuesday, September 17, demanding that the EC must allow an independent audit of the register.

Voter register: NDC sends strong message to EC over forensic audit [Listen] https://www.adomonline.com/voter-register-ndc-sends-strong-message-to-ec-over-forensic-audit-listen/ Sat, 14 Sep 2024 11:36:11 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2448948 The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has said it will not back down on its request for a forensic audit of the 2024 voter register.

The NDC Director of Election and IT has warned that, the Electoral Commission(EC) will only be postponing the audit if it fails to grant their request now.

Dr Edward Omane Boamah sounded this message of caution on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen stating the next NDC government will ensure a mega audit.

He stressed that, this will not be the first time the register will be audited, adding there was one under the Afari-Gyan-led EC.

“What we are asking for is not just about the register. The ills emanate from the IT system but they are saying an audit has never happened before. If they don’t allow this audit in 2024, they are only postponing the problem and mega audit in 20225 when the NDC wins the election. We know the checks and balances we have put in place,” he stated.

Dr Boamah further urged all NDC members and Ghanaians to come out in their numbers to support their protest on Tuesday, September 17.

Voter register: What will be the basis for your call for forensic audit? EC asks NDC [Audio https://www.adomonline.com/voter-register-what-will-be-the-basis-for-your-call-for-forensic-audit-ec-asks-ndc-audio/ Sat, 14 Sep 2024 10:42:01 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2448936 The Electoral Commission (EC) has questioned the rationale behind the National Democratic Congress (NDC) call for a forensic audit of the 2024 voter register.

According to the Director of Electoral Services, Benjamin Bano-Bio, all the concerns raised by the NDC have been addressed, leaving a robust register for December 7.

In an interview with Asempa FM Ekosii Sen programme Friday, Mr Bano-Bio stated that the EC had started working on the irregularities before the NDC raised the concerns.

“During the exhibition, we were correcting all mistakes. We liaised with the District officers and a committee at the headquarters and 90% of the errors have been corrected after we detected them.

If you give us reasons and it will create a compelling results and ensure integrity of the register, why not? but the instances they have cited are all isolated cases and we have addressed all the issues. So what is the basis of the call for forensic audit?” he questioned.

Mr Bano-Bio advised that, if the NDC is not convinced the issues have been resolved, they[NDC] should present evidence of any remaining challenges.

He reiterated that the EC has nothing to hide and is committed to ensuring a credible electoral process that inspires confidence.

He added that, the final version of the voter’s register will be shared with all political parties for verification and comparison.

Meanwhile, the NDC will on Tuesday, September 17 protest at the EC’s offices nationwide to mount pressure for their call to be heeded to.

EC must release provisional voter register now – NDC https://www.adomonline.com/ec-must-release-provisional-voter-register-now-ndc/ Wed, 14 Aug 2024 19:02:41 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2433959 The National Democratic Congress (NDC), is calling on the Electoral Commission (EC) to release the provisional voter register for the December 7 elections to all political parties before the exhibition exercise.

According to the party, an early provision will afford the parties to scrutinise the register before the exhibition.

In a Facebook post, the NDC’s Director of Elections, Dr Omane Boamah described the electoral body as incompetent.

He alleged that, the EC’s delay is a deliberate attempt to provide substandard register for the election.

“We strongly believe this lack of promptness exhibited by the EC is due to both incompetence and a deliberate attempt to dump a sub-standard Provisional Voter Register on political parties in a short period, to make it difficult for interested parties to critically peruse the register before the Exhibition starts, next week,” Dr. Omane Boamah posted.

He emphasised that the EC’s actions, particularly those of its IT Department, could lead to dire consequences if not addressed promptly.
