According to him, the name is “problematic” because the NPP’s political roots trace back to the historic United Party (UP) tradition.

Speaking in an interview on Accra-based GHOne TV, Kabiru accused the former Trade Minister of attempting to “hide under the flag” of the UP legacy, warning that the move could mislead Ghanaians and distort the country’s political history.

He disclosed that the NPP may seek a court ruling on the legality of the name, saying, “I’m sure fair-minded Ghanaians and members of the Republic will test it in court to find out what that name is. Of course, it is a very good case to test to see whether that name will even stand.”

Kabiru added that Alan Kyerematen and his team should have been “more thoughtful” in choosing a name for their new party.

Alan’s boys damaged NPP electorally and reputationally – Hackman https://www.adomonline.com/alans-boys-damaged-npp-electorally-and-reputationally-hackman/ Thu, 18 Sep 2025 08:32:59 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2579966 Chairman of the NPP Council of Elders, Hackman Owusu-Agyeman, has accused Alan Kyerematen’s followers of damaging the party both electorally and reputationally in the 2024 elections.

Speaking on Joy News’ PM Express, he said Alan’s resignation and the conduct of his loyalists left a deep scar on the NPP’s performance and image.

“Well, even one vote is important, and he took a few thousand votes. Not only that, especially from the Ashanti, but they had these boys go on television and say all manner of things and insult and what have you, and people always saying, “Oh, they were with them once upon a time, so what they are saying is true, and it wasn’t helpful to us,” he stated.

Mr. Owusu-Agyeman said such actions weakened the party ahead of the polls, describing the repeated resignation-and-return cycle as disruptive.

He stressed that the NPP had been too lenient with such behaviour in the past.

When asked about Alan Kyerematen’s possible return, Hackman said the decision would lie with the party, not him, but recalled that in the past, some leaders had been blunt.

“I remember that Da Rocha, whom we all revere, when Alan resigned the first time, he said good riddance, and he was the party chairman at that time,” he said.

Hackman insisted that those who damage the party and leave should stay away, while ordinary followers may be allowed to return.

Alan’s exit was to scuttle NPP’s front in 2024 – Hackman Owusu-Agyeman https://www.adomonline.com/alans-exit-was-to-scuttle-npps-front-in-2024-hackman-owusu-agyeman/ Thu, 18 Sep 2025 06:47:24 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2579895 The Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Council of Elders, Hackman Owusu-Agyeman, has suggested that Alan Kyerematen’s decision to leave the party was intended to weaken its electoral chances.

Speaking on Joy News’ PM Express, he said the former Trade Minister’s resignation before the 2024 elections inflicted unnecessary damage on the party.

“I remember that Da Rocha, whom we all revere, when Alan resigned the first time, he said good riddance, and he was the party chairman at that time.

“So I really don’t know when it comes; it will be discussed. And I believe that sometimes you begin to wonder whether, and I’m being very frank with you in this interview, it was deliberately meant to scuttle our front and make us lose, and sometimes I wonder what,” he said.

He questioned the justification given for Alan’s departure.

“And sometimes I wonder because there was absolutely no need… if you have a nationwide election and one person gets into a physical fight, and then he says, because of that, I’m resigning,” he said.

“Well, if you want to form your own political party, have the courage to say, I am forming my political party. Don’t link that to the fact that the party was not able to protect you,” he stressed.

Asked about the impact of Alan’s exit on the 2024 polls, Hackman said the NPP suffered both electorally and reputationally.

“Well, even one vote is important, and he took a few thousand votes, especially from the Ashanti Region… Not only that, but they had the boys go on television and say all manner of things, insults and what have you, and people always saying, ‘Oh, they were with them once upon a time, so what they are saying is true,’ and it wasn’t helpful to us,” he explained.

He stressed that the party must not continue to tolerate such behaviour.

“So if you want to come, you join a party, and you have to behave yourself. And I don’t think that in the future, we shall; well, I will not cast my vote for such a situation at all. In the future, if you create problems for us, you will go. I mean, we can go on, life goes on,” he declared.

The veteran politician noted that politics can be unpredictable but insisted that discipline must prevail.

“Politics is quite interesting, and these are the sort of things that we shouldn’t be encouraging at all. In the UK right now, some people from the Conservatives are going to Reform. But if you go, stay there; stay there with your problem; don’t come and do that again,” he advised.

He, however, distinguished between leaders and ordinary members who followed them.

“But those ones, they were the leaders who created a problem, and the young mass followers should come back. They should come back because they know that they are not going to go anywhere,” he concluded.

Alan pays courtesy call on President-elect Mahama https://www.adomonline.com/alan-pays-courtesy-call-on-president-elect-mahama/ Fri, 20 Dec 2024 18:20:31 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2486264 Leader and Presidential candidate of the Afrafranto Alliance in the 2024 election on Friday led a delegation to pay a courtesy call on the President-elect, John Dramani Mahama at his office.

Mr Kyerematen’s visit was to officially congratulate Mr Mahama on his victory in person and foster a collaborative approach to national development.

The interaction highlighted mutual respect and a shared commitment to Ghana’s progress.

In a short address, the former Minister for Trade and Industry emphasised the need for a government of national unity.

This he asserted will reduce excessive partisanship and curb the practice of abandoned government projects and also the exclusion of talents.

Mr Kyerematen also touched on the need to move from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) interventions to sustainable development based on his Great Transformation Plan (GTP).

These two thematic areas he noted are of importance to the Alliance for Revolutionary Change as he presented a copy of his Great Transformational Plan to Mahama.

He urged Mr Mahama to focus on the stabilization of the macroeconomy and invest in the real sector, especially industrialization, agriculture and tourism to create jobs.

Additionally, he made a call for a vigorous fight against corruption and illegal mining.

For the part of Mr Mahama, he commended Mr Kyerematen for the move, referring to him as a political heavyweight with a visionary approach to national issues.

He noted that, the NDC shares similar aspirations as outlined in the GTP and acknowledged its transformative potential, assuring that ideas borrowed would be credited to Alan.

On the pressing issue of illegal mining, Mr Mahama admitted the existence of sound policies and regulations but highlighted challenges with implementation.

He underscored that political interference has exacerbated the problem, making it harder to address.

Both leaders agreed on the urgent need for genuine and sustained efforts to end illegal mining, given its devastating environmental and economic impact.

On the sidelines of the meeting, Mr Mahama expressed regret over the internal wrangling in the NPP which led to Alan’s departure but extended his good wishes to the party.

Alan Kyerematen vows to transform northern Ghana to alleviate poverty https://www.adomonline.com/alan-kyerematen-vows-to-transform-northern-ghana-to-alleviate-poverty/ Tue, 03 Dec 2024 14:33:54 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2478634

Alan Kyerematen’s recent tour of the five northern regions of Ghana highlighted the urgent need for development in an area rich with untapped potential.

His journey through the Upper West, Upper East, Northern, North East, and Savanna regions brought him face-to-face with the challenges confronting these communities, from inadequate social and economic infrastructure to widespread poverty.

Speaking to journalists at the end of his tour, Alan expressed concern over the region’s neglect by successive governments, which he described as a glaring leadership failure.

“The conditions here are truly concerning. In some communities, children are learning under poor conditions in extreme heat, while access to clean water remains a daily struggle for many families. This situation hinders their ability to thrive and fulfill their potential,” he said. Alan emphasized that such challenges perpetuate cycles of poverty and inequality, holding back not only the region but the entire country. He shared heartbreaking observations of children walking long distances to fetch water from muddy streams, often juggling their time between school and supporting their families. “No child should have to choose between going to school and helping their family fetch water. It’s a reminder of the urgent need for sustainable solutions to ensure every child has access to basic necessities like clean water and education,” he added.

Healthcare infrastructure was another area of concern for Alan Kyerematen.

He noted that some residents travel several kilometers to access the nearest clinic, a situation that has led to preventable deaths.

“It is disheartening to hear stories of lives lost due to the lack of nearby health facilities. This is a region with immense potential to drive Ghana’s growth, yet it faces significant neglect. We must address this,” he stated.

Alan also met with farmers who shared their struggles with unpredictable weather patterns, insufficient inputs, and limited access to markets. He pointed out that many farmers are unable to modernize and remain stuck in subsistence farming methods that yield little return.

He promised to introduce a New Agricultural Revolution to transform the sector, emphasizing that the region has the potential to become the food basket of West Africa. “With the right support, agriculture in this region can flourish and transform lives. Completing projects like the Pwalugu Multipurpose Dam and introducing agro-parks will enable year-round farming and improve incomes,” he assured.

During engagements with traders, Alan listened to stories of market women trapped in debt cycles due to their inability to access affordable loans. He proposed establishing a Traders Bank to offer low-interest loans tailored to the needs of small-scale traders.

“These are hardworking people who need just a little support to thrive. If we empower the traders, we empower the families they support,” he said.

Concluding his remarks, Alan called on the people of the northern regions to rethink their political choices. He criticized the two dominant political parties for failing to deliver on their promises.

“For decades, the duopoly has come here asking for votes, only to turn their backs once in power. Instead of providing concrete plans, they are now fighting over who is more corrupt or who has failed the economy more. Bawumia proudly claims that under the NDC, the rate of currency depreciation was 74%, while under the NPP, it is 72%, despite the cedi hitting 17 to the dollar under his watch. If this is what he calls proper management of the currency, then we have a huge leadership problem,” he said.

Alan urged the people to demand more from their leaders and consider the promise of change embodied in his Great Transformational Plan (GTP). “The northern regions deserve better.

Your children deserve opportunities that allow them to dream and achieve. Together, we can turn these challenges into opportunities and ensure no family, no community, is left behind in our pursuit to alleviate poverty,” he concluded.

Upper East erupts for Alan Kyerematen ahead of 2024 election https://www.adomonline.com/upper-east-erupts-for-alan-kyerematen-ahead-of-2024-election/ Sat, 30 Nov 2024 10:48:55 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2477550 The Upper East Region came alive with electrifying energy as Alan Kyerematen, leader of the Afrafranto Alliance and the Movement for Change presidential candidate, stormed the region to continue his caravan campaign tour.

The vibrant streets were filled with chants of “Asieho” and “Alan Cash” as enthusiastic supporters, including market women, youth, and elders, gathered to welcome the man they believe is destined to transform Ghana.

The atmosphere was electric as yellow T-shirts and aprons, symbolic of Alan’s campaign, became prized items, with supporters chasing them excitedly.

At the Zuarungu Palace, the chiefs expressed their unwavering support for Alan Kyerematen’s vision, calling for the revival of the defunct Bolgatanga Meat Factory and better management of the Pwalugu Tomato Processing Plant.

“We have seen your commitment to industrialization, and we know that under your leadership, our region will thrive with more factories. The people of Zuarungu stand firmly behind you,” they pledged. Alan assured them that his Great Transformational Plan (GTP) includes strategic investments in local industries to create jobs and boost economic growth.

In Bongo, the chiefs rallied Alan to continue his fight for the presidency, affirming that “this time, the seat belongs to you.”

The warm reception was a testament to the region’s belief in Alan’s ability to bring meaningful change. Addressing the gathering, Alan reiterated his plans to integrate chiefs into national governance, promising that they would serve as co-trustees of natural resources and play a critical role in decision-making through the Second Chamber.

At the Tindana’s Palace in Bolga, the Tindana (Odikro) himself delivered an emphatic endorsement. “You are the leader Ghana needs to make a difference,” he said, pledging the full support of his people.

The crowd roared in approval as Alan shared his vision to make the northern regions the food basket of Ghana. “With investments in agriculture and agro-processing under the GTP, hardworking farmers here will not only feed the nation but also export to neighbouring countries,” he assured them.

Alan’s charisma shone brightest in the bustling markets of Zuarungu, Bongo, and Bolga. Traders and buyers abandoned their wares to meet him, shouting “Asieho” and vying for the yellow campaign merchandise.

Market women, in particular, hailed his promise to establish a Traders’ Bank to provide low-interest loans and financial support. “This initiative will empower us to expand our businesses and support our families,” one trader exclaimed, echoing the sentiments of many.

In Bongo, Alan captivated the youth by unveiling his 10-point youth empowerment plan, which includes job creation, a digital revolution, and skills development. He pledged to ensure that every willing young person has access to employment or support to start a business. “Together, we will end the unemployment crisis and create a brighter future,” he declared to thunderous applause.

The highlight of the tour came as Alan visited the Bolga Central Market, where he was swarmed by jubilant supporters.

Women danced to campaign songs, waving handkerchiefs and their hands. The youth, energized by Alan’s message, vowed to rally their peers to vote massively for him in the 2024 elections.

As it came to light that the good people of the Upper East Region also wanted the Pwalugu Multi-Purpose Dam to be built to provide year-round irrigation, energy, and water to boost incomes and improve social welfare, Alan pledged his unwavering commitment to its construction.

He assured the chiefs and residents that the dam would play a pivotal role in supporting his vision of making the northern part of Ghana the food basket of West Africa.

By the end of his visit, it was clear that Alan Kyerematen’s message of economic empowerment, inclusive governance, and transformational leadership had struck a chord with the people of the Upper East Region.

As he waved to the jubilant crowd in Bolgatanga, he left behind a promise of a brighter future, cementing his position as a formidable contender in the 2024 elections.

Alan receives massive support in Volta Region ahead of Dec. 7 election https://www.adomonline.com/alan-receives-massive-support-in-volta-region-ahead-of-dec-7-election/ Thu, 28 Nov 2024 17:42:42 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2477057 Alan Kyerematen, leader of the Afrafranto Alliance and presidential candidate for the Movement for Change, received an outpouring of love and support during his recent campaign tour of the Volta Region.

Town after town, crowds of enthusiastic residents lined the streets to welcome him, with many declaring him the “second father of the Volta Region” after the late President Jerry John Rawlings.

This title, the people explained, was their way of honouring Alan Kyerematen’s vision, humility, and unwavering commitment to the region’s development.

Alan Kyerematen was accompanied by his Policy Director, Yaw Buabeng Asamoah; his Director for Special Duties, Hopeson Adorye; Senior Alliance partners, Madam Tina Cudjoe and Richard Suma; and other senior members of his team.

Their presence underscored the significance of the tour and the importance the campaign attaches to the Volta Region in the upcoming elections.

The heartfelt reception moved Alan Kyerematen deeply, as he expressed gratitude for the affection shown him.

“The love I have received here is beyond what I imagined,” he said during an address to community members. “To be referred to as your second father is a profound honour, and I promise to repay this trust by delivering a transformational agenda that will uplift this region and the entire country.”

The residents, particularly women and youth in the region, praised Alan Kyerematen for his practical solutions under the Great Transformational Plan (GTP).

They were particularly drawn to his promise to make the Volta Region a Skills Development Hub and the establishment of a Traders’ Bank to support businesses in the country.

Many lauded his vision to invest heavily in farming, fishing, and eco-tourism, which they said aligns with the region’s natural resources.

“Our region has waited for a leader who truly understands our potential,” a community leader remarked. “Alan Kyerematen’s commitment to agriculture, fishing, and eco-tourism shows he sees us as part of Ghana’s solution, not just a political tool. This is why we call him our second father.”

Amid the jubilant scenes, Alan Kyerematen urged the people to reject claims that an independent candidate cannot win a presidential election in Ghana.

“Across the country, Ghanaians are ready for change. The love and support I’ve seen here is the same wherever I go, and it gives me confidence that we will win this election,” he stated.

“Ignore the propaganda of the NDC and NPP. They are afraid because they know the people are with me.”

The former Trade and Industry Minister highlighted examples of independent leaders around the world, including George Washington in America, Emmanuel Macron in France, and Patrice Talon in Benin, who have led their nations to success.

“This election is about leadership, not party colours. Together, we can rewrite Ghana’s story,” he declared, drawing loud cheers from the crowd.

The overwhelming show of affection from the Volta Region solidified Alan Kyerematen’s belief in his campaign. “This is not just a political movement; it is a national call for transformation,” he said.

As he left the region, the chants of support and the declaration of his new title as the “second father” underscored the people’s hope for a new era under his leadership.

Women, youth will make me President on Dec. 7 – Alan declares https://www.adomonline.com/women-youth-will-make-me-president-on-dec-7-alan-declares/ Wed, 27 Nov 2024 08:52:08 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2476224 Alan Kyerematen, the leader of the Afrafranto Alliance and presidential candidate of the Movement for Change, has declared that the women and youth of Ghana will be the decisive force behind his historic victory on December 7th.

Speaking to an electrified crowd during a campaign tour at the Dome Market in Accra, he attributed his confidence to their overwhelming support and belief in his Great Transformational Plan (GTP).

“I have no doubt that women and youth will make me president come December 7th,” Alan Kyerematen boldly proclaimed. “Through policies like the Traders Bank, which will provide targeted financial support for women and youth entrepreneurs, and my 10-point plan for youth empowerment, we will create opportunities and transform lives. Wherever I go, they stand with me because they see my commitment to their progress.”

The Traders Bank, one of the standout policies in Alan Kyerematen’s GTP, has been met with widespread applause from market women and small-scale entrepreneurs.

Traders at the Dome Market cheered loudly as he reiterated his commitment to empowering women through access to credit and the development of modern market facilities equipped with clinics, crèches, and car parks.

Yaw Buaben Asamoa, a founding member and Director of Policy for the Movement for Change, reinforced Alan’s vision and its connection with the people.

“The energy among women and youth wherever Alan visits is phenomenal. They believe in him because he listens, understands their struggles, and offers real solutions. This is not just support; it’s a movement,” he stated.

With your support, we will build a Ghana where opportunities are not a privilege but a right. On December 7th, let us vote for transformation. Together, we will make history, and Ghana will rise again.”

With women and youth rallying behind his policies and vision, Alan Kyerematen’s journey to the presidency continues to gain unstoppable momentum.

After Free SHS, what next? – Alan quizzes https://www.adomonline.com/after-free-shs-what-next-alan-quizzes/ Mon, 25 Nov 2024 12:24:47 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2475426 Presidential aspirant Alan Kyerematen has unveiled a bold plan to reform the Free SHS programme, addressing its long-term sustainability and providing structured pathways for graduates to transition into tertiary education or the job market.

Speaking during the Presidential Encounters 2024 hosted by the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation on November 22, 2024, Mr. Kyerematen emphasized the need for a comprehensive review of the policy to ensure its objectives are fully realized.

“The Free SHS programme is a great policy, and I doubt whether any government would discontinue it,” he noted. However, he cautioned that the programme, in its current form, lacks provisions for life after SHS, posing the critical question: “After Free SHS, what next?” Mr. Kyerematen argued that providing free education without clear pathways for graduates undermines the policy’s potential impact.

To address this gap, he outlined reforms under his Great Transformational Plan (GTP), focusing on five key areas: financial sustainability, infrastructure development, curriculum improvement, capacity building for educators, and transitioning graduates into tertiary education and the workforce:

  1. Financial Sustainability: Mr. Kyerematen stressed the need to evaluate funding sources to ensure the programme’s continuity. “Where are we going to find the money to sustain this?” he asked, urging stakeholders to address the policy’s financial viability.
  2. Infrastructure Development: He also highlighted the significant infrastructure deficits in schools, including inadequate classrooms, dormitories, and teaching facilities. Addressing these challenges, he said, would enhance the learning environment and improve the quality of education under the programme.
  3. Curriculum Improvement: Curriculum development was another critical area. Mr. Kyerematen questioned whether the current curriculum prepares students for modern economic demands or equips them with the skills needed for the job market. “We need to ask ourselves, what are we teaching them under the Free SHS programme? Is it helping them transition into the world of work?”
  4. Capacity Building for Educators: He further emphasized the need for capacity building for teachers and non-teaching staff. Training educators to deliver quality education and equipping administrative staff to manage schools effectively were identified as key priorities.
  5. Transitioning Graduates into Tertiary Education and the Workforce: To ensure Free SHS graduates are adequately prepared for life after school, Mr. Kyerematen has proposed innovative pathways under the GTP. Central to his plan is a compulsory one-year apprenticeship and internship programme, which will provide hands-on training and certification in artisanal and entrepreneurial skills. This initiative aims to help graduates identify their talents and develop practical skills aligned with market demands.

For graduates interested in entrepreneurship, Mr. Kyerematen has proposed access to government programmes offering funding, mentorship, and resources to establish and grow businesses. This, he said, would foster a new generation of youth-led enterprises, reducing unemployment and boosting economic activity.

Moreover, he also introduced the Health Screening Booths Scheme, where graduates can operate booths on a work-and-pay basis, delivering essential health services while earning a stable income. This program not only creates job opportunities but also addresses healthcare accessibility in underserved areas.

For those aspiring to careers in national security, Mr. Kyerematen has committed to creating dedicated recruitment pathways into the security services. Meanwhile, graduates wishing to pursue higher education would receive financial support from the government to remove financial barriers. Additionally, through the apprenticeship programme, some graduates may discover their talents during internships and choose to continue developing their skills at their host institutions. For such individuals, the government will provide financial backing to ensure they transition seamlessly into full-time roles or advanced training.

Mr. Kyerematen also criticized the neglect of basic and pre-basic education, arguing that these foundational levels are just as critical as secondary education. “We talk about Free SHS as if the foundation doesn’t matter. Strengthening basic and pre-basic education is critical to ensure students are fully prepared for SHS and beyond,” he said.

During the encounter, Mr. Kyerematen also unveiled a groundbreaking policy to mainstream digitalization and digitization, pledging to establish 100,000 free satellite internet hotspots nationwide. These hotspots, strategically located in vantage points, including all secondary schools, aim to provide seamless, telecom-independent connectivity. This initiative will revolutionize teaching and learning, while significantly benefiting the youth, particularly content creators burdened by the high cost of data.

Mr. Kyerematen’s vision for free satellite internet connectivity is set to drive a digital revolution, empowering Ghana’s next generation to thrive in a tech-driven world.

Mr. Kyerematen’s proposed reforms envision a Free SHS programme that not only provides access to education but also equips students with the tools and opportunities they need to succeed. By addressing sustainability, quality, and outcomes, he aims to transform the Free SHS policy into a platform that empowers graduates to contribute meaningfully to the nation’s development.

Through his GTP, Mr. Kyerematen offers a practical and forward-thinking solution to the challenges of Free SHS, ensuring that no graduate is left behind.

Alan Kyerematen unveils plan for brighter future for health professionals https://www.adomonline.com/alan-kyerematen-unveils-plan-for-brighter-future-for-health-professionals/ Fri, 22 Nov 2024 00:15:51 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2474435 Alan Kyerematen, leader and Presidential Candidate of the Afrafranto Alliance has unveiled a visionary plan to revolutionize healthcare delivery and provide economic opportunities for health professionals under his Great Transformational Plan (GTP).

Speaking to nursing and midwifery students of the Nursing and Midwifery Training College in Sunyani and other health professionals in the Bono Region, Mr Kyerematen outlined key policies that prioritize the welfare of healthcare workers while addressing the nation’s healthcare challenges.

Among the standout initiatives is the restructuring of the Nursing Training Allowance to make it sustainable. Alan Kyerematen criticized the allowance’s current form as a tool for political manipulation by the NDC and NPP. “The current system is unsustainable and often serves as bait for political gains. Under my leadership, the Nursing Training Allowance will be reformed to ensure it supports students effectively while being economically viable for the long term,” he stated, earning enthusiastic applause from the audience.

Following the review of the allowance, Alan Kyerematen emphasized that the ultimate priority for graduates is securing jobs. “It is not enough to simply complete school. The most important thing is that after completing your training, you have jobs waiting for you,” he noted. To address this, he announced a nationwide program to rehabilitate health facilities, including expansions where necessary, to accommodate more health professionals and reduce unemployment in the sector.

Alan Kyerematen also pledged to improve the conditions of service for health professionals, acknowledging their indispensable role in society. “Your efforts ensure that we live long and enjoy good health here on earth. Health professionals deserve far better than what they are currently being given,” he remarked, earning thunderous applause. He stressed that under his leadership, the welfare of health professionals would be a top priority to motivate them to deliver quality healthcare.

Another major initiative Alan Kyerematen highlighted was the Ghana Skills Export Program, an innovative policy to train professionals, including those in the health sector, for export to countries in dire need of workers. “This is a win-win policy. Our government will enter into agreements with countries that need health professionals, and we will train and prepare our nurses, midwives, and doctors to fill those gaps. This will not only create job opportunities for our youth but also generate revenue for Ghana through remittances,” he explained. According to Mr. Kyerematen, the program will offer competitive packages to attract participants while contributing to the development of Ghana’s healthcare system.

In Addition, Alan Kyerematen reiterated his commitment to the Health Booth policy, which aims to create 100,000 jobs for health professionals. The booths, strategically placed in communities, will provide essential health services such as blood pressure, sugar level, and cholesterol checks at affordable rates. “These health booths will not only reduce the workload on our hospitals but also bring healthcare closer to the people,” he said. The initiative, which operates on a work-and-pay basis, allows those managing the booths to earn a sustainable income while improving community healthcare access.

Another groundbreaking proposal is the establishment of community clinics to be co-owned and managed by groups of nurses and doctors. The government will provide funding, but the clinics will operate as independent entities. “Our goal is to empower healthcare workers to become entrepreneurs in the health sector while ensuring equitable healthcare distribution across the country,” Mr. Kyerematen noted. He added that the government alone cannot provide all the necessary health facilities, emphasizing the need for private-sector involvement. “This partnership with the private sector will expand access to healthcare while creating opportunities for professionals to own and operate clinics,” he explained.

As part of his tour in the Bono Region, Alan Kyerematen paid a courtesy call on the traditional leaders of the Sunyani Traditional Council. He shared his mission in the region and his vision for the country, including a commitment to reviewing the constitution to empower traditional leaders to play pivotal roles in both local and national governance structures. The traditional leaders expressed their appreciation and excitement for his vision, pledging their support for his cause.

In addition, Mr Kyerematen visited the clergy in the region, where he presented his vision for Ghana and his promise to include them in national governance through the establishment of the Second Chamber.

He assured the clergy of a direct role in governance under his administration. The clergy, in turn, endorsed him for his vision and good heart, offering a special prayer for his protection and victory while continuing to pray for peace in the country.

Were you expecting Kufuor to support you? – Nana Akomea asks Alan https://www.adomonline.com/were-you-expecting-kufuor-to-support-you-nana-akomea-asks-alan/ Wed, 20 Nov 2024 09:20:32 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2473689 The Vice Chairman of the Bawumia Campaign Team, Nana Akomea, has expressed reservations about Alan Kyerematen’s criticisms of former President John Agyekum Kufuor.

The Managing Director of the State Transport Corporation (STC) questioned whether Mr. Kyerematen expected Kufuor to support him instead.

“It’s sad that Alan Kyerematen feels that way. Who did Alan Kyerematen expect Kufuor to support? Him? He’s not a member of the NPP. Is he a member of the NPP? If Kufuor goes to support Alan Kyerematen, Kufuor has taken himself out of the NPP. I think, in the NPP, Kufuor, at one point, used to be everybody’s boss, including President Akufo-Addo,” he stated.

Mr. Kufuor had, in a media interview, endorsed New Patriotic Party (NPP) Presidential Candidate Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia for the 2024 election.

Describing Dr. Bawumia as a man of destiny, Kufuor rallied Ghanaians to massively vote for him on December 7 to transform the nation.

The endorsement, however, did not sit well with the flagbearer of the Movement for Change, who claimed it tarnished Kufuor’s reputation.

Reacting to this, Nana Akomea, in an interview on Accra-based Channel One TV, said Mr. Kyerematen’s statement was unfortunate.

“So, Kufuor is like the old lady in the house, like the Akan people will call ‘Abrewatia.’ That’s how Kufuor is. The Abrewatia in the party you said should go and endorse you, Alan, who is not in the party. You didn’t follow him to stay in that party, you left, and he should follow you.

“Between Kufuor and Alan, who should follow the other? I heard some of the things he said and it made me sad. At the time Kufuor appointed Alan as US Ambassador and Minister of Trade, there were people in the party who could have taken those appointments,” he clarified.

Nana Akomea expressed optimism that Kufuor would have been actively involved in the NPP’s campaign, but for old age.

“Isn’t it laughable? Kufuor is not as active as he used to be. I can assure you, if he was active, he would be doing more. Not because of any fear, but because he’s a member of the NPP. And he wants the NPP to succeed and contribute to that effort. How does anybody read meaning into it?” he quizzed.

Alan to establish ‘Creative Arts Development Fund’ https://www.adomonline.com/alan-to-establish-creative-arts-development-fund/ Tue, 19 Nov 2024 06:48:25 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2473152 Alan Kyerematen, the leader and presidential candidate of the Movement for Change, has announced an initiative to transform Ghana’s creative industry under his Great Transformational Plan (GTP).

Central to this vision is the establishment of the Creative Arts Development Fund (CADF), aimed at providing financial and technical support to talented individuals to help them unlock their potential and contribute meaningfully to Ghana’s economy.

Speaking on the policy, his running mate, Kwame Owusu Danso (KOD), emphasised the fund’s potential to empower aspiring creatives.

A statement copied to the Ghana News Agency in Accra said: “The Creative Arts Development Fund will make resources available to aspiring musicians, poets, comedians, and artisans so they can develop and promote their craft,” he noted.

Reflecting on his own experience as a musician, KOD noted that with financial backing, they could avoid the challenges he and others encountered early in their careers.

He added that the fund would enable creatives to secure the capital they needed to launch their careers while contributing to the economy as their work gains recognition both locally and internationally.

Alan Kyerematen has consistently emphasised the importance of fostering youth entrepreneurship as a cornerstone of his 10-point youth empowerment plan.

He said, as part of this agenda, the Creative Arts Development Fund will serve as a critical tool to support young creatives who have often faced barriers such as inadequate financing, limited infrastructure, and weak intellectual property protections.

By addressing these challenges, Alan believes Ghana’s creative industry can rival global giants like Nigeria, contributing significantly to the country’s GDP.

The fund, Mr. Kyerematen stated, will not only focus on financial assistance but also provide technical support and mentorship for creatives.

“Through collaborations with industry experts, the Fund will ensure that beneficiaries are equipped with the skills and networks required to succeed. This is about creating opportunities for our youth to turn their talents into thriving businesses,” Alan explained.

“We are building a future through an Enterprise Economy, where our artistes, filmmakers, and musicians are celebrated globally, not just for their talent but for their economic impact.”

A critical component of the fund’s objectives will be revitalizing Ghana’s struggling film industry.

Alan Kyerematen has highlighted the potential of cinema as a tool for economic growth and cultural preservation.

According to him, by investing in local filmmakers and providing infrastructure for production, the Creative Arts Development Fund would position Ghana as a hub for high-quality African content, capable of competing on the global stage.

The GTP envisions a thriving arts sector that bridges generational gaps by promoting a sense of national pride and identity.

The Creative Arts Development Fund, he noted, would enable younger Ghanaians to connect with their roots, while sharing Ghanaian culture with the world through music, art, comedy, poetry, and film.

To ensure sustainability, the fund will be complemented by legal and policy reforms under the GTP, including stronger intellectual property protections and incentives for international collaborations, giving Ghanaian artists the tools to safeguard their work and access global markets.

“Our creative talents are among the best in the world, and with the right support, they can lead the way in shaping Africa’s cultural narrative,” Alan has stated.

Mr. Kyerematen has called on Ghana’s youth, especially those in the creative industry, to rally behind his vision of transformation.

“This fund is not just about financial support; it’s about allowing our youth to realize their dreams and make meaningful contributions to our economy,” he affirmed.

With the Creative Arts Development Fund, Ghana’s creative sector stands on the brink of a golden era, poised to inspire the world and transform lives at home.

2024 Polls: Mahama holds 51.9% lead – Global InfoAnalytics final poll https://www.adomonline.com/2024-polls-mahama-holds-51-9-lead-global-infoanalytics-final-poll/ Mon, 18 Nov 2024 15:59:39 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2473004 The final poll conducted by Global InfoAnalytics ahead of the December 2024 elections indicates that the presidential candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, is poised to win.

The survey places Mahama ahead with 51.9% of voter support, followed by the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, at 40.5%.

Other candidates, including Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen and Nana Kwame Bediako, garnered 2.1% and 4.7%, respectively, while others collectively secured 0.7%.

The poll, conducted from November 11 to 16, reveals a tightening race in swing regions such as Greater Accra, Central, and Western.

However, it also highlights dwindling support for the ruling party in the Akan and Northern regions as election day approaches.

In the swing regions, Mahama holds 51.1% support, ahead of Bawumia’s 39.5%. Bediako and Kyerematen trail with 7.0% and 2.0%, respectively.

In the traditionally NPP-strong Akan regions, Bawumia maintains a narrow lead with 46.6%, while Mahama follows closely at 44.5%.

In the Northern regions, Mahama enjoys a commanding lead with 64.7%, leaving Bawumia at 33.9%.

The Volta and Oti regions also show strong support for Mahama, who leads with 72.7%, compared to Bawumia’s 19.7%. Kyerematen and Bediako trail with 2.2% and 3.3%, respectively.

The six-week polling average indicates Mahama leading in 13 regions, while Bawumia holds an advantage in three. This includes gains for Mahama in the Ahafo and Bono regions, which have historically leaned towards the NPP.

Among floating voters, Mahama dominates with 63% support, followed by Bediako at 17% and Bawumia at 13%. Among first-time voters, who account for approximately 5% of the electorate, Mahama has 48% support, while Bawumia trails with 39%.

Kufuor’s endorsement of Bawumia has tarnished his reputation – Alan https://www.adomonline.com/kufuors-endorsement-of-bawumia-has-tarnished-his-reputation-alan/ Mon, 18 Nov 2024 15:45:12 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2472940 The presidential candidate for the Movement for Change, Alan Kyerematen, has criticized former President John Agyekum Kufuor’s endorsement of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) flagbearer, ahead of the 2024 general elections.

In an interview with selected journalists on Sunday, November 17, Kufuor urged Ghanaians to support Dr. Bawumia in the December polls, describing him as the ideal leader for the nation.

“Given the current global circumstances, I firmly believe Ghana’s economy will improve significantly if Bawumia is elected as President. With divine guidance, he can fulfill this promise. I encourage everyone to back his candidacy,” Kufuor stated.

However, in a sharp response on Oyerepa TV on Monday, November 18, Mr. Kyerematen expressed disappointment with Kufuor’s remarks, arguing that they compromise the neutrality expected of a statesman.

“Kufuor is my uncle, and I respect him deeply, but his actions have tarnished his political legacy. Why would someone of his stature engage in such partisan politics? His endorsement has led to widespread criticism and insults, which could harm his reputation,” he said.

The Movement for Change leader, who broke away from the NPP to establish his party, warned that Kufuor’s involvement in political endorsements could have serious repercussions.

“He’s treading on dangerous ground, and he needs to reconsider his actions. He knows what he’s doing.”

2024 Polls: Alan pledges constitutional reforms to empower chiefs https://www.adomonline.com/2024-polls-alan-pledges-constitutional-reforms-to-empower-chiefs/ Mon, 11 Nov 2024 11:34:35 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2470521 The Leader and Founder of the Movement for Change, Alan Kyerematen, has pledged to implement extensive constitutional reforms to enhance the role of traditional chiefs in governance.

Kicking off a two-day campaign tour in Asunafo South in the Ahafo Region, Kyerematen reiterated his commitment to including chiefs in his administration if elected president.

Speaking to traditional leaders and residents in Sankore, he revealed plans to amend the 1992 Constitution to empower chiefs, who, he argues, have been excluded from national governance.

“The current Constitution sidelines our esteemed chiefs when they should be active partners in governance. Under my leadership, we will amend this aspect of the Constitution,” he stated.

Kyerematen elaborated that his Great Transformational Plan (GTP) includes creating a Second Chamber, where chiefs would serve as co-trustees of Ghana’s lands and natural resources, enabling them to bring their expertise and authority into national leadership.

Nana Tabiri Gyansa, Kotirehene of the Sankore Traditional Council, welcomed this vision, hoping it would address the long-standing developmental neglect in Sankore and surrounding communities.

“Sankore has been overlooked for far too long in terms of development and employment opportunities,” he said.

Kyerematen further emphasized that only a government of national unity can truly transform Ghana, promising to end the partisan gridlock that stalls progress.

“We need a government that unites rather than divides. The Afrafranto Movement is about bringing everyone to the table, including our chiefs,” he said.

The tour will continue across the Ahafo Region, with Alan Kyerematen expected to engage more communities and strengthen support for the Afrafranto Alliance.

Vote for my husband; he’ll be a great President – Alan’s wife appeals to Ghanaians https://www.adomonline.com/vote-for-my-husband-hell-be-a-great-president-alans-wife-appeals-to-ghanaians/ Sat, 09 Nov 2024 03:36:30 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2470118 Mrs. Patricia Christabel Kyerematen, wife of Movement for Change flagbearer Alan Kyerematen, has made a heartfelt appeal to Ghanaians, urging them to vote for her husband in the upcoming election.

“Alan has a true vision for this country,” she passionately declared. “I believe with all my heart he will be a great president – one who genuinely cares about the people and is ready to bring real, lasting change.”

Her words came as she led the final day of the movement’s 8-day caravan tour through Accra, which drew an overwhelming crowd on November 2, 2024, for a historic walk through the capital.

Throughout the tour, Mrs Kyerematen and senior members of the Afrafranto Alliance, including the Director of Special Duties, Hopson Adorye, engaged with chiefs and residents across Korle Klottey, Ayawaso East, and Odododiodio, paying courtesy calls on community leaders and connecting with residents. “It’s important we hear from everyone, especially our traditional authorities and everyday Ghanaians who make this country what it is,” she explained. “This is what Alan stands for governance that begins with listening.”

On November 2, Alan Kyerematen addressed the crowd with a strong message of economic hope, pledging to tackle unemployment and stabilize the cedi. “Today, the exchange rate is 17 cedis to the dollar. That is unacceptable,” he said, pledging to bring it below 5 cedis. Mrs. Kyerematen echoed his message, adding, “Alan has a clear, actionable plan to restore stability and achieve growth. This isn’t just political talk; he’s fully prepared to fix the economy, create jobs, and relieve the burden on families.”

Beyond the economy, Alan outlined a new approach to tackling illegal mining, or Galamsey. Alongside tough measures to address the menace, he proposed a responsible mining model that empowers the youth to own small-scale mining ventures rather than be exploited by politicians. “Alan doesn’t want our youth enslaved to any politician’s agenda; he wants them to see a future in responsible mining,” Mrs. Kyerematen emphasized, drawing enthusiastic cheers.

Corruption was also central to Alan’s Great Transformational Plan. As he detailed his vision for an independent anti-corruption Czar with prosecutorial powers, Mrs Kyerematen highlighted the boldness of this initiative. “Alan knows we cannot progress without tackling corruption. He’s not afraid to take on those who abuse power to enrich themselves, and he will restore integrity to public office.”

The November 2 walk became a powerful display of support, with streets filled with supporters eager for change. “What I’ve seen on this tour is inspiring. The outpouring of love and hope for Alan has been incredible,” Mrs Kyerematen said, as crowds in the movement’s colours walked alongside Alan, chanting for a new era in Ghana’s leadership.

“The people want change, and they see it in Alan.” Throughout the tour, the youth and community leaders voiced their belief in the movement’s potential, making it clear that they are tired of the NDC-NPP political gimmicks that have left the country struggling.

As the tour progresses, the Movement for Change stands firm on its promise to prioritize Ghanaians’ needs. With Alan Kyerematen at the helm, Mrs Kyerematen expressed confidence in his ability to lead, saying, “Alan is ready to serve with integrity and vision. Vote for my husband, and let’s build a brighter future together.”

Kwame Danso decries widening rent deficit, promises lasting solution with Alan https://www.adomonline.com/kwame-danso-decries-widening-rent-deficit-promises-lasting-solution-with-alan/ Thu, 07 Nov 2024 18:10:30 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2469722 Kwame Owusu Danso, Vice Presidential candidate for the Movement for Change ticket of Alan Kyerematen, has expressed deep concern over the worsening housing crisis, which he says has severely impacted living conditions for many citizens, especially the youth.

Speaking during a visit to the Texpo community along the Sakumono road in Spintex, Danso criticised the government for failing to address the growing housing deficit, which has left many Ghanaians, particularly young people, resorting to living in kiosks and makeshift shelters.

In a heartfelt address to residents, Danso highlighted that the housing shortage has reached critical levels, pushing many families to the brink of homelessness.

He pointed to skyrocketing rent costs as a major factor, saying, “I have seen firsthand the dire situation in which many Ghanaians find themselves today.

“Families, especially young people, are resorting to living in kiosks because they can no longer afford the ever-increasing rent in urban areas.

“This is unacceptable. It is a failure of successive governments, and it is high time we took decisive action to solve this crisis.”

A Call for Affordable Housing

Ghana’s housing deficit has reached alarming proportions, with experts citing a shortfall of over two million units, driven by rapid urbanisation and limited affordable options.

Rent costs in major urban centres like Accra have risen sharply, making homeownership a distant goal for many.

Mr Danso took the opportunity to outline the Movement for Change’s housing policy under an Alan Kyerematen administration.

He assured residents that affordable housing would be a top priority, stating, “The Alan Kyerematen administration is committed to ensuring that every Ghanaian has access to safe, secure, and affordable housing.

“We understand that a home is not just a place to live; it is the foundation of a stable and prosperous life. That is why, under the Movement for Change, we will prioritise affordable housing and work with both the public and private sectors to find lasting solutions to this problem.”

Residents Voice Their Struggles

Texpo residents shared their housing struggles and frustrations over the government’s lack of action. “I’ve lived here for over two years, but the rent keeps going up, and it’s becoming harder to survive,” said one resident.

“The government doesn’t seem to care about people like us. We don’t want to live in kiosks, but what choice do we have when we cannot afford a proper home?”

Another resident expressed a sense of hopelessness: “The situation is getting worse. If things don’t change soon, more people will be forced onto the streets.

“It’s heartbreaking to see families who want to live in dignity but can’t because the cost of housing is just too high. We need real change, and we need it now.”

Despite these challenges, residents felt hopeful after Danso’s visit, grateful for his attention to their concerns and his assurance that affordable housing would be a priority under Kyerematen’s leadership. “We’ve been neglected for too long by those in power,” said a community leader.

“We believe that Alan Kyerematen can bring the change we need. We are ready to support him, and we will vote in large numbers to make sure that his plans for affordable housing become a reality.”

A Time for Action

Kwame Owusu Danso’s visit to Texpo underscores the urgent need for a comprehensive solution to Ghana’s housing deficit.

As Danso pointed out, the issue goes beyond the mere lack of homes; it’s about ensuring affordable and accessible housing for ordinary Ghanaians.

With the 2024 elections approaching, Danso and the Movement for Change are positioning themselves as the solution to Ghana’s housing woes.

By prioritising housing, they aim to tackle one of the country’s most pressing challenges and pave the way for a more secure future for all Ghanaians.

For the residents of Texpo and countless other communities, the stakes are high, and they believe that the time for change is now.

2024 election: Alan leads mammoth ‘Afrafranto Victory Walk’ in Accra https://www.adomonline.com/2024-election-alan-leads-mammoth-afrafranto-victory-walk-in-accra/ Sat, 02 Nov 2024 16:45:55 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2467668 In a remarkable show of force and strength, Alan Kyerematen’s Movement for Change brought Accra to life as hundreds of thousands of supporters turned out for a walk ahead of election 2024 in December.

The event drew citizens from across the spectrum, with the youth leading a vibrant wave of enthusiasm and unity.

The scale of the march exceeded even the massive Kumasi walk, accentuating the unstoppable momentum of Alan’s Yellow army as they took over Ghana’s bustling capital.

From the first light of day, a seemingly endless procession of people poured into the streets, transforming Accra into a sea of bright yellow.

Every corner of the city echoed with chants, songs, and the sound of drumming, as people – young and old, students and families came together in what can only be described as a political festival.

Banners with Alan’s face and the slogan “Ase3 Ho” waved high above the crowd, as marchers energized by hope for a new Ghana captured the city’s attention at every turn.

Alan Kyerematen, who led the procession alongside his energetic running mate, KOD and other senior partners of the Afrafranto Alliance, was at the heart of it all, warmly greeting his supporters who cheered him on.

Walking shoulder-to-shoulder with the young people who have embraced his vision, Alan demonstrated his commitment to bringing them front and centre in his plans for Ghana. His Great Transformational Plan (GTP) has captured the imagination of many, particularly the youth, who see in him a leader who genuinely prioritizes their needs and dreams. “Alan is the leader we need!” a young supporter shouted as he fell at Alan’s feet, capturing the sentiments of many who feel deeply inspired by his vision.

The scale of the walk astonished bystanders who lined the streets to watch as Alan’s Yellow Army moved from neighbourhoods to major thoroughfares, filling Accra with a spirit of change and unity.

With this monumental gathering, Alan’s Movement for Change has set a new standard, not just for political campaigns but for how citizens envision the future of their nation.

The turnout in Accra, following the massive Kumasi march, signals a groundswell of support for Alan and his message of inclusive transformation.

Focusing his campaign on the needs of ordinary Ghanaians, Alan is convinced his message resonates with voters in ways that the established parties may not fully understand.

He describes an organic wave of support across the country as the driving force behind his optimism.

After a recent tour through Accra’s markets, he shared with journalists the enthusiastic response he witnessed, especially among the people he engaged directly.

Alan argued that the NPP’s base of truly committed voters is modest, estimating it to be fewer than a million.

He also cautioned against misinterpreting rally attendance as an accurate reflection of the party’s real support.

“You can feel the genuine enthusiasm, the organic love people are showing towards me,” he said.

“There’s going to be a big surprise in December. After all, I was a founding member of the NPP. But don’t be misled by the crowds—the numbers seen in elections don’t reflect the actual committed voter base.”

Vote for Alan Kyerematen to end Ghana’s leadership crisis – Boniface Siddique appeals to Ghanaians https://www.adomonline.com/vote-for-alan-kyerematen-to-end-ghanas-leadership-crisis-boniface-siddique-appeals-to-ghanaians/ Sat, 26 Oct 2024 15:07:42 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2464773 Alhaji Boniface Abubakar Siddique, former Zongo Development Minister and team leader of the Afrafranto Caravan Tour in the Upper East, has attributed Ghana’s persistent challenges to a political culture that prioritizes party loyalty over quality leadership.

Addressing the Bawku Naba’s Palace and a group of young people during the Alliance’s Upper East Caravan Tour, Alhaji Sidique pointed to the abundance of Ghana’s natural resources, including timber, gold, manganese, oil, and bauxite, which despite their potential, have failed to bring meaningful progress to the majority of Ghanaians.

He argued that “mediocrity has long held the front seat, while true merit is relegated to the back,” resulting in ineffective governance and missed opportunities for national growth.

According to Sidique, this trend has been sustained by a focus on entrenched political parties, namely the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and New Patriotic Party (NPP), which he believes have turned Ghana’s politics into a “cycle of compromise, where excellence is sacrificed at the altar of party allegiance.” Sidique stressed that Ghana’s stagnation is a direct result of this misplaced focus, with leadership crises that have left critical sectors like health, education, and infrastructure struggling to meet basic standards. “It’s time we recognize that our fixation on party labels is costing us our future,” he declared.

Boniface Sidique called on Ghanaians to break free from these party shackles in the upcoming 2024 general elections by choosing a leader who values development over party loyalty. He presented Alan Kyerematen as a visionary candidate who understands the need for competent and transformative leadership. “A vote for Alan is a vote for Ghana’s true potential,” he told the audience. Mr Kyerematen’s leadership, he emphasized, offers a fresh perspective that prioritizes merit, innovation, and tangible results over political favours.

Accompanied by Dr Alhasan Samari, Chairman of the National Advisory Committee, and Mr Rayan Nazir, Upper East Regional Anchor, Alhaji Sidique and his team spent time engaging with chiefs, elders and people of Bawku in the Upper East region, sharing their vision of a transformation under Alan Kyerematen’s leadership. They described Mr Kyerematen as a leader dedicated to harnessing Ghana’s resources to benefit all citizens, not just a privileged few. “This is a time for real change, for leadership that finally matches the potential of our resources and the promise of our people,” Alhaji Sidique asserted.

In a message that struck a chord with local leaders, Boniface Sidique underscored that effective leadership is not a byproduct of mere party allegiance.

He argued that it requires a commitment to excellence and a desire to serve the nation genuinely. “What we need is a leader who places Ghana first and parties second – someone who is willing to take bold steps toward actual transformation,” Sidique remarked, positioning Alan Kyerematen as that ideal choice.

Reflecting a growing sentiment among Ghanaians, Alhaji Sidique’s speech amplified the desire for a shift from the status quo. Many attendees echoed his sentiments, with one chief noting that “the time has come to demand a new kind of leadership – one that delivers.” He encouraged citizens to channel their frustration into action at the ballot box, stating, “If we continue down the path of party-first politics, we risk losing the future we’ve always dreamed of.”

As the 2024 elections are near, the Afrafranto Alliance is rallying support nationwide, urging Ghanaians to reject mediocre leadership and embrace the promise of capable inclusive governance.

By backing Alan Kyerematen, Alhaji Sidique said Ghanaians have a unique opportunity to “reclaim our national destiny and pave the way for a prosperous future for generations yet to come.”

Alan is a champion of culture, peace and industrialisation – Boniface Saddique https://www.adomonline.com/alan-is-a-champion-of-culture-peace-and-industrialisation-boniface-saddique/ Thu, 24 Oct 2024 07:36:18 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2463795 A Senior advisor to Alan Kyerematen, Boniface Abubakar Saddique, has extolled his virtues as a champion of Ghana’s rich cultural heritage and a steadfast advocate of peace.

“Alan Kyerematen is no stranger to our traditional values,” Alhaji Saddique began. “His father, Dr. Alexander Atta Yaw Kyerematen, was instrumental in the establishment of cultural centres across the country, beginning with the first cultural centre in Kumasi. This foundation has instilled in Alan a profound respect for our customs and history, making him the embodiment of culture, peace, and industrialization that our country needs.”

In a statement copied to the Ghana News Agency in Accra, Boniface elaborated on Alan’s consistent efforts to uphold peace, citing the pivotal moment during the NPP 2007 primaries in Legon.

“Alan Kyerematen has always prioritized the greater good over personal ambition. When he had the opportunity to contest for the NPP’s flagbearership, he made the selfless decision to step aside for Nana Akufo-Addo, ensuring that peace prevailed within the party. Without that, the NPP would have torn itself apart and lost its place in Ghanaian politics.”

He said Mr. Kyerematen’s decision to withdraw from the race was a turning point that exemplified his leadership style – one that values unity and national interest above individual gains. “This is the kind of leader we need – someone who can make difficult sacrifices for the peace and stability of our nation. Alan is a peacekeeper and a peacemaker.”

Alhaji Saddique, who served as the Zongo Minister during President Akufo-Addo’s first term, also contextualized Alan Kyerematen’s current decision to run as an independent candidate, pointing to examples from other African countries and historical leaders like George Washington in the U.S.

“People often forget that going independent isn’t new. Leaders like the presidents of Benin and Senegal followed this path when the party system failed them. Even George Washington, the first President of the United States, was an independent candidate. This shows that Alan is on the right path, putting the nation first, above party politics.”

He said Mr. Kyerematen’s Great Transformational Plan (GTP) was the urgent needs of Ghanaians, particularly in addressing unemployment and reviving the economy.

“Alan is coming to fix what is broken. His GTP focuses on creating jobs for the people and bringing cash to the people. With his experience and vision, Alan Kyerematen will solve our leadership crisis and bring prosperity to all.”

The chiefs and elders of the Nandom Traditional Area in the Upper West Region, in their response, expressed their appreciation for Alan Kyerematen’s visit.

Elder Cletus Nyureh, speaking on behalf of the Paramount Chief, Prof Edmund Nminnyem Dell Chiir VIII, said they had waited a long time for Alan’s arrival, as they believe in his vision for the country and wished him well in his bid to lead Ghana.

Speaking on JoyNews’ News Desk with Fostina Sarfo, he acknowledged the efforts of the Electoral Commission (EC) but highlighted the need to address irregularities.

“The technical integrity and credibility of any election start with the voters’ register,” he said.

“Whether it’s internal party elections or national elections, that’s the foundation.”

His comments follow concerns raised by the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), which called for an independent forensic audit after detecting anomalies during a voter exhibition exercise.

The NDC argues that these irregularities could compromise the credibility of the upcoming general elections.

While commending the EC’s efforts, Kyerematen emphasized the importance of addressing these concerns.

“To ensure election integrity, the EC must respond to the specific cases identified,” he stated, adding that this would “enhance the commission’s credibility.”

When asked if he supported an independent audit, Mr Kyerematen was clear.

“Yes, it has to be done. I don’t see why there should be resistance to it,” he remarked.

“If there are lingering doubts about the register, a comprehensive audit will help improve public trust in its credibility.”

Mr Kyerematen’s position echoes growing calls from various political actors seeking greater transparency in the electoral process.

As the 2024 elections approach, how the EC responds to these demands will be key in maintaining public trust.

Alan to beat NPP in A/R after “Afrafranto Mega Walk” in Kumasi – Gabby Chereh https://www.adomonline.com/alan-to-beat-npp-in-a-r-after-afrafranto-mega-walk-in-kumasi-gabby-chereh/ Sat, 19 Oct 2024 15:09:40 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2462075 The Movement for Change is expecting its upcoming victory walk in Kumasi to draw thousands of supporters and floating voters across the Ashanti region.

The party is also targeting floating voters to vote for Alan.

Ashanti Regional communications director for the Movement for Change, Gabriel Chereh Junior has expressed confidence in beating the New Patriotic Party in Ashanti region in the upcoming elections.

He stated that the era of political parties claiming regions and constituencies as their stronghold is over.

“Our victory walk is expected to draw thousands of supporters across the Ashanti region, and we will also target floating voters to vote for Alan. The days of this is my strong hold is over; voters are now discerning, and we are confident to win,” he said.

According to Mr. Kyereh, the recent statement made by president Akuffo-Addo urging Northeners to vote for Dr. Bawumia because he is one of their own indicates that the Ashantis will also vote massively for Mr. Kyeremanteng since he is from the region.

“We have a sitting president who campaign in the northern region and calling on Northeners to vote for Bawumia because he is from the North. With this Logic, we believe Ashantis will also vote massively for Alan Kyeremanteng because he is an Ashanti,” he said.

Movement For Change is organizing the walk to energize their base and also pray the people of Ashanti region to vote for one of their own.

The walk forms part of the broader campaign vision to build momentum and energize the Afrafranto movement toward a historic electoral victory, with the ultimate goal of ending the long-standing political dominance of both the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

This Mega Victory Walk, dubbed vote ‘Aseɛ Hɔ’ (Vote for the Bottom), emphasizes the grassroots strength of the movement and its determination to reach out to every corner of the nation.

The former Trades Minister is preparing to host a “Mega Walk” in Kumasi.

The event, which is scheduled to take place on Saturday, is expected to draw thousands of supporters from across the country.

According to Mr. Kyerematen, the NPP and NDC have dominated Ghana’s political space for too long, and it is time for a change.

He believes that the two parties have failed to deliver on their promises and have instead enriched themselves and their cronies at the expense of the ordinary Ghanaian.

“We need a new direction, a new vision, and a new leadership that will put the interests of the people first,” Kyerematen said in a statement.

“We need to break the duopoly of the NPP and NDC and create a new era of politics that is inclusive, transparent, and accountable.”

Alan to scrap COVID-19 and other nuisance taxes for business growth – Nana Ohene Ntow https://www.adomonline.com/alan-kyeremato-scrap-covid-19-and-other-nuisance-taxes-for-business-growth-nana-ohene-ntow/ Fri, 18 Oct 2024 14:09:11 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2461798 Senior Advisor and Director of Election Planning for the Movement for Change, Nana Ohene-Ntow, has announced that Alan Kyerematen will abolish the controversial COVID-19 tax, along with other nuisance taxes and charges, when elected President of Ghana.

Speaking during the Movement for Change’s Caravan Tour in Kwabenya, Greater Accra Region, Nana Ohene-Ntow described these taxes as unjust burdens on Ghanaians and a major hindrance to business growth in the country.

“It is highly unthinkable that years after the COVID-19 pandemic, Ghanaians are still being made to pay this COVID-19 tax.

“It was meant to be a temporary measure during a crisis, but it has now become a permanent fixture that is suffocating businesses and individuals alike,” Ohene-Ntow stated during the tour stop.

In addition to the COVID-19 tax, Nana Ohene-Ntow revealed that Alan Kyerematen plans to abolish other nuisance taxes, particularly at the port, to create a conducive and profitable business environment.

“These excessive taxes and port charges are crippling businesses. Alan Kyerematen will not only remove them but ensure that our business environment encourages growth and innovation,” he emphasized.

The COVID-19 tax, introduced in 2021 to support healthcare infrastructure and the vaccination campaign, was initially seen as a necessary measure.

However, Ohene-Ntow argued that its continued imposition is now unjustified.

“The pandemic is behind us, and Ghanaians should not continue to pay for a crisis that no longer exists. Alan Kyerematen’s government will prioritize the needs of ordinary Ghanaians by abolishing this unnecessary tax,” he said.

Nana Ohene-Ntow also outlined broader economic reforms under Alan Kyerematen’s leadership, including efforts to reduce inflation, interest rates, and exchange rates to single digits.

“Our plan is not just about abolishing taxes. Alan Kyerematen will implement policies to reduce interest rates, inflation, and exchange rates, bringing them to single digits. This will allow local businesses to thrive, create jobs, and improve the livelihoods of Ghanaians,” he added.

He further criticized the government for failing to discontinue the COVID-19 tax despite the clear indications that it was no longer serving its intended purpose.

“This tax is another example of how out of touch the government is with the realities faced by Ghanaians. The Movement for Change believes in smart governance that listens to the people, and Alan Kyerematen is committed to putting an end to this unfair taxation.”

Nana Ohene-Ntow, in conclusion, urged voters to consider the economic relief that Alan Kyerematen’s Great Transformational Plan (GTP) offers, which includes comprehensive tax reforms and support for businesses.
“Our goal is to make the Ghanaian economy more competitive by removing barriers and promoting growth. With Alan Kyerematen, Ghanaians can look forward to a prosperous future where businesses can flourish without being weighed down by excessive taxes, interest rates, and inflation,” he stressed, as the caravan tour continued to gain momentum across the region.

Ghana will bear fruit when Alan becomes President – Offinsomanhene declares https://www.adomonline.com/ghana-will-bear-fruit-when-alan-becomes-president-offinsomanhene-declares/ Tue, 15 Oct 2024 14:39:43 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2460590 In a significant display of support for Alan Kyerematen and the Afrafranto Movement, the Offinsomanhene, Nana Dwamena Akenten II, has given a resounding endorsement of Mr Kyerematen’s presidential bid.

Speaking at his palace in the Offinso South Constituency of the Ashanti Region, the revered traditional leader likened the role of Alan Kyerematen to the process of pollination, stating that just as the butterfly enables the fruit-bearing process, Mr Kyerematen’s leadership will cause Ghana to flourish.

The Offinsomanhene admitted that, at first, he was puzzled by Alan Kyerematen’s decision to adopt the butterfly as his symbol.

“Initially, I didn’t understand why Alan chose the butterfly. I thought it was a curious choice,” he revealed.

However, he shared that he had an epiphany after giving it deep thought one night.

“As I lay on my bed, I realised that it was actually the best symbol Alan could have chosen for his Movement,” Nana Dwamena Akenten II disclosed.

In an intriguing explanation to his sub-chiefs, who had gathered at his palace to hear the revered chief’s words, Nana Dwamena Akenten II turned scientific, comparing Mr Kyerematen’s leadership to the butterfly’s critical role in nature.

“For any plant to bear fruit, it needs a butterfly to complete the process. The butterfly transfers pollen from one plant to another, enabling it to bear fruit,” the chief explained. “Without the butterfly, the plant remains barren,” he added.

Drawing on this analogy, the Offinsomanhene declared that Ghana, like a plant waiting to bear fruit, needs Alan Kyerematen to complete its transformation process.

“When I thought deeply about this, I realized that for everything to bear fruit, the butterfly must be responsible. In the same way, when Alan comes, Ghana will bear fruit,” he declared.

The endorsement of Nana Dwamena Akenten II adds another powerful voice from the Ashanti Region, a key political stronghold, to Alan Kyerematen’s growing support among traditional leaders.

The chief’s comparison of Alan Kyerematen to the butterfly – a symbol of transformation and growth, is not only apt but resonates with the Afrafranto Movement’s Great Transformational Plan (GTP).

This plan aims to rejuvenate the Ghanaian economy, tackle corruption, and create opportunities for the youth.

Mr. Kyerematen, currently on a 19-day tour of the Ashanti Region, expressed his deep gratitude for the endorsement, recognizing the significance of support from influential traditional leaders.

“For a chief like Nana Dwamena Akenten II, who is well-respected in the Ashanti Region, to understand and align with my vision is an honour. It reinforces that our message of transformation is resonating with Ghanaians from all walks of life,” Mr. Kyerematen remarked.

The Offinsomanhene’s endorsement follows a series of similar backing from prominent chiefs across the country, emphasizing Alan Kyerematen’s deep respect for traditional authorities and his promise to involve them in his governance.
Under his Great Transformational Plan, Mr. Kyerematen has pledged to make chiefs co-trustees of lands and other natural resources, creating a partnership between the government and traditional leaders that has never been seen before.
As the December 7 polls approach, the endorsement of Nana Dwamena Akenten II is expected to further boost Mr Kyerematen’s popularity, particularly in the Ashanti Region, as traditional authorities play a crucial role in shaping public opinion.
With chiefs increasingly throwing their weight behind his campaign, the momentum behind the Afrafranto Movement continues to grow stronger.

Alan is the 3rd force Ghanaians are crying for – Suma Manhene https://www.adomonline.com/alan-is-the-3rd-force-ghanaians-are-crying-for-suma-manhene/ Tue, 08 Oct 2024 19:15:34 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2458300 The Paramount Chief of the Suma Traditional Area, Odeneho Dr Afram Obrempong III, has lauded Alan Kyerematen, the leader and presidential candidate for the Movement for Change/Alliance for Revolutionary Change, for his bold vision and transformative policies aimed at steering Ghana towards prosperity.

In a powerful endorsement, the Suma Manhene expressed confidence in Alan’s leadership, describing him as a beacon of hope in Ghana’s political landscape.

Speaking during a visit by Alan’s Caravan Campaign Tour team, led by Senior Advisor and Director of Election Planning and Coordination, Nana Ohene-Ntow, the Suma Manhene didn’t hold back his admiration for the presidential hopeful.

“Alan’s industrial drive, mechanization of agriculture, commitment to fight corruption, and battle against galamsey are touching the hearts of many Ghanaians. If he and his team continue to explain themselves well, the tide will change in their favor,” Odeneho Dr. Afram Obrempong III noted on Monday, October 7, 2024.

The Chief, who praised Alan for his humility and honesty, emphasized that Alan’s unblemished record sets him apart from the political corruption that plagues many leaders today.

“He is experienced, respectful, and has no corruption scandals in his political career as we often hear about other politicians. Alan Kyerematen’s personality and policies are reshaping the NPP and NDC,” the Suma Manhene declared, alluding to the rising demand for a fresh political alternative.

Alan Kyerematen’s presence in Bono Region has certainly caused ripples, with traditional rulers, including the Suma Manhene, recognizing his potential to break the duopoly of the NPP and NDC.

“Ghana’s politics has been dominated by these two parties, but most Ghanaians are crying for a third force, and Alan is that force,” Odeneho Afram Obrempong III added, urging Ghanaians to embrace the change Alan represents.

Nana Ohene-Ntow, who led the Caravan Campaign Tour team, reinforced Alan’s track record as a “tried and tested” leader.

“He has played a pivotal role in shaping the economic landscape, not only in Ghana but across Africa, particularly in South Africa and through the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA). It was Alan’s initiative as Minister of Trade and Industry under President Kufuor that gave birth to the AfCFTA, with its headquarters in Ghana,” he stated.

Ohene-Ntow also highlighted Alan’s role in the success of the 1D1F initiative, which has supported the growth of numerous small businesses across the country.

In a passionate appeal, Nana Ohene-Ntow urged traditional rulers across the nation to rally behind Alan Kyerematen’s vision.

“The traditional rulers will play a key role in Alan’s government if elected president,” he said, reaffirming the Movement’s commitment to including chiefs in governance, as outlined in Alan’s Great Transformational Plan (GTP).

With endorsements like these, Alan Kyerematen’s Caravan Campaign Tour in Bono is gathering steam, further cementing his status as a formidable contender in the 2024 elections.

Alan pledges bold constitutional shake-up to empower chiefs https://www.adomonline.com/alan-pledges-bold-constitutional-shake-up-to-empower-chiefs/ Tue, 08 Oct 2024 17:34:21 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2458262 The Presidential candidate and leader of the Movement for Change, Alan John Kwadwo Kyerematen, has given a firm assurance to traditional leaders that he will include them in his government if elected as President of Ghana.

Speaking at the Palace of Drobonsohene, Nana Dwamena Dankwa Dwobisaw II on Sunday, October 6, 2024, in the Afram Plains Constituency, Ashanti Region, Mr Kyerematen blamed the 1992 Constitution for sidelining chiefs in modern governance.

He argued that, the Constitution did not give traditional leaders the power to actively participate in national governance, stating, “When Alan comes, we will change that aspect of the Constitution.”

His view is that the roles of traditional leaders and politicians are aligned, as both aim to bring development to their people.

“Those in politics know that politics and chieftaincy have the same objective of bringing development to the people, so there is no difference between us,” he emphasised.

Mr Kyerematen’s promise to involve chiefs in governance is not just rhetoric. His Great Transformational Plan (GTP) already outlines a clear role for chiefs, making them co-trustees of lands and natural resources.

Furthermore, the GTP envisions the creation of a Second Chamber of governance where traditional leaders will have a prominent role.

This is a significant departure from the current political structure, reaffirming Mr Kyerematen’s respect and confidence in the role of chiefs.

Alan Kyerematen’s commitment to traditional authorities may be deeply influenced by his family heritage. His late father, Dr. Alexander Atta Yaw Kyerematen, played an instrumental role in preserving the cultural heritage of the Asanteman and Ghana at large.

This legacy of reverence for tradition and culture is now mirrored in his campaign to restore the status of chiefs in modern governance.

The Movement for Change leader is currently on a 19-day campaign tour of the Ashanti Region ahead of the December 7 polls. His visit to Drobonso is just one of many stops as he engages with chiefs and their communities.

Earlier, he held a private conversation with the Kumawumanhene, Barima Tweneboa Kodua II, further strengthening his ties with the traditional leadership.

During his interaction with the people of Drobonso, Alan urged them to support him in the upcoming election, highlighting his position as number 13 on the ballot.

His campaign continues to gain momentum in his home region, where he is receiving a groundswell of support. The Ashanti Region, known for its deep-rooted political loyalty, is now showing undeniable love for one of its own.

The support Alan Kyerematen is garnering in the Ashanti Region underscores the difference between a delegate election and a general election. The chiefs, the youth, and the people are rallying behind him in ways that were not evident during the NPP primaries.

This wave of support is a clear indication that the Ashantis are fully backing their own to lead the country.

As Alan Kyerematen’s campaign snowballs in his home region, the broader message of inclusion, respect for tradition, and national development resonates deeply.

With his plans to revamp the Constitution to include chiefs, Mr. Kyerematen is positioning himself as the candidate who will restore the dignity and role of traditional leadership in Ghana’s governance.

The group numbering over 100 announced their decision at a press conference on Tuesday, October.

The group’s spokesperson and Polling Station Secretary at Twi-Ndzi, Twi, Gegem Electoral Area in the Cape Coast South, Francis Edzie said the development follows an engagement with the national campaign leadership.

“We, the campaign team members of Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen during the presidential primaries, have gathered here today to make our intention known. We followed Alan Kyerematen to the Movement for Change but have decided to return to our mother party after advice from the national campaign of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

I will fix broken economy, create jobs for youth – Alan Kyerematen https://www.adomonline.com/i-will-fix-broken-economy-create-jobs-for-youth-alan-kyerematen/ Sat, 05 Oct 2024 19:39:03 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2457230 The presidential candidate for the Movement for Change, Alan John Kwadwo Kyerematen, has assured Ghanaians that he will restore the country’s declining economy and create more jobs for the youth.

He was speaking to members of the Asewa community in the Bosomefreho constituency in the Ashanti region on Saturday, October 5, 2024.

Mr Kyerematen underscored his commitment to reviving the economy and alleviating the hardships caused by what he described as poor economic management under the current government.

Mr Kyerematen, who is currently on a 19-day tour of the Ashanti Region, visited several communities including Asewa, Anyinase, Danso, Nsuaem Number 1, Nsuaem Number 2, Amomorso, and Abosamaom, delivering his message of economic recovery.

He highlighted that the challenges Ghanaians are facing today are a direct result of the collapsed economy under the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government.

“The suffering you are going through is because of the bad economy they have created. When I come, I’ll fix it,” Mr Kyerematen stated.

One of the key pillars of his plan is job creation, particularly for the youth, a critical issue he said has reached a point of national security.

“Youth unemployment is not just an economic problem; it’s a threat to our security. When young people don’t have jobs, the country becomes unstable,” he explained.

Alan Kyerematen’s Great Transformational Plan (GTP) prioritises the creation of sustainable jobs for the youth by supporting entrepreneurship and industrialisation.

Mr Kyerematen emphasised that his approach will not only create more jobs but also ensure they are sustainable, providing long-term employment solutions rather than short-term fixes.

He noted that job creation will be pursued through industrial expansion and innovation in sectors like agriculture, manufacturing, and technology.

“The youth will play a key role in this transformation, and we will give them the tools and support to succeed,” he promised.

Additionally, he highlighted the importance of aligning education with job opportunities. Mr Kyerematen explained that under his government, educational curricula would be reformed to focus more on skills development and entrepreneurship to prepare students for the job market.

“Our education system must be fit for purpose, and that means training our young people for the jobs that exist and the ones we are creating,” he said.

As part of his plan, Mr Kyerematen intends to establish a Youth Development Fund to support young entrepreneurs and startups.

He emphasised that this fund will be accessible and properly managed to ensure that resources reach those who need them most.

“We cannot talk about job creation without giving our youth the capital they need to start their own businesses,” he added.

His promise to fix the economy and create jobs has resonated with many Ghanaians, particularly the youth, who are looking for a leader capable of addressing their needs and securing their future.

The Movement for Change’s leader ended his speech by calling on the people of Bosomefreho to vote for change in 2024.

“If you want a future where the economy works for everyone, vote for me, and I will fix it,” he said.

I will reform the constitution and fight corruption – Alan Kyerematen https://www.adomonline.com/i-will-reform-the-constitution-and-fight-corruption-alan-kyerematen/ Sat, 05 Oct 2024 19:32:32 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2457226 Presidential candidate for the Movement for Change, Alan John Kwadwo Kyerematen, has reiterated his commitment to reform the Constitution and combat corruption if elected in the 2024 December election.

Speaking at Asewa in the Bosomefreho constituency in the Ashanti region on Saturday, October 5, 2024, Mr Kyerematen outlined his vision to amend the 1992 Constitution to foster development and reduce the excessive powers of the president, which he argued have contributed to inefficiency in governance.

Mr Kyerematen, who is on a 19-day tour of the Ashanti Region, visited several communities in the Bosomefreho Constituency, including Asewa, Anyinase, Danso, Nsuaem Number 1, Nsuaem Number 2, Amomorso, and Abosamaom, where he addressed large crowds.

He attributed some of the challenges Ghanaians are facing to constitutional flaws, particularly those that concentrate too much power in the hands of the president.

“Another problem of this country is the constitution. The suffering we are going through is partly because of it,” he stated.

His plan includes decentralising more power to local authorities to ensure that development is evenly spread across the country.

“We cannot continue with a system where all decisions are concentrated at the top. We need to empower local governments to bring development closer to the people,” Mr Kyerematen explained.

One of the key areas of reform will be the appointment of public officials. Mr Kyerematen intends to amend the constitution to make certain key positions, such as heads of anti-corruption agencies, independent of presidential influence.

“To fight corruption, we need to reduce the influence of the president over these institutions. That way, they can do their jobs without fear or favour,” he stated.

Corruption, according to Mr Kyerematen, has been the bane of the country’s economic development, siphoning billions of cedis that could have been used to improve infrastructure and public services.

“When I come, I will stop corruption outright. We will make this country great again,” he assured, stating that he plans to consolidate all anti-corruption institutions into one body, headed by a corruption Czar with independent prosecutorial powers.

Mr Kyerematen’s determination to fight corruption is rooted in his belief that without addressing the problem, no development plan can succeed.

“Corruption is the reason why we are not developing as we should. It’s the reason why our roads, schools, and hospitals are in poor condition,” he noted, adding that his administration will make transparency and accountability its watchwords, ensuring that public officials are held to the highest ethical standards.

Mr Kyerematen called on the people of Bosomefreho to support his bid for the presidency, promising them a new era of governance built on transparency, accountability, and fairness.

“With your support, we will reform the constitution and rid this country of corruption. Together, we will make Ghana great,” he added.

The visit formed part of his three-week Caravan Campaign Tour in the Ashanti Region as he rallies support ahead of the 7th December general election.

During the visit, Alan Kyerematen took the opportunity to formally introduce his young running mate, Mr Kwame Owusu Danso, to the Asantehene.

He explained that, his choice of a youthful running mate, emphasizing that the older generation needed to prepare the younger ones to assume leadership roles.

Citing Kwame Owusu Danso’s impressive credentials as a former musician, footballer for Kumapim Stars, lawyer, and broadcast journalist, Mr Kyerematen asserted that the young man was more than equipped to take on the mantle of leadership.

The traditional leaders at the Manhyia Palace, known for their wisdom and experience, took turns to eulogize the venerable trade and industry icon.

They expressed their admiration for Alan Kyerematen’s vision for the nation and bestowed their blessings on his candidacy in the upcoming elections.

The mood in the palace was one of reverence and excitement, as they welcomed the leader who many consider a true son of the soil.

In his response, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II praised Alan Kyerematen for his humility and his well-thought-out development blueprint, which he believed could transform the nation.

The Asantehene encouraged Mr Kyerematen to spread the good message contained in his Great Transformational Plan (GTP) across the country, emphasizing the need for Ghanaians to fully grasp the far-reaching benefits of his policies.

Otumfuo’s most profound statement came when he declared that Alan Kyerematen already had his blessing, affirming that he was a true grandson of the Asante Kingdom. “If a true grandson of mine is contesting to become president, why wouldn’t I support him?” the King remarked, sending a strong message of loyalty and pride in Alan Kyerematen’s candidacy.

The Asantehene’s support is a huge endorsement that has electrified the Ashanti Region, which is considered a vital political stronghold.

Alan Kyerematen is a royal of Ejisu and a descendant of the legendary Queen Mother, Yaa Asantewaa.

His late father, Alexander Atta Yaw Kyerematen, was the founder of the National Culture Centre in Kumasi and played a pivotal role in preserving and promoting Asante culture and heritage.

As Mr Kyerematen embarks on his 21-day campaign tour of the Ashanti Region, the palpable excitement on the ground suggests that the region is ready to throw its full weight behind the man they fondly call Chief.

Avoid politics of insults, focus on policies – Otumfuo tells Alan https://www.adomonline.com/avoid-politics-of-insults-focus-on-policies-otumfuo-tells-alan/ Wed, 02 Oct 2024 21:11:19 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2455993 The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has advised Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen, leader and presidential candidate of the Movement for Change, to avoid engaging in politics of insults and instead focus on promoting his policies as he campaigns ahead of the December 7 polls.

During a visit to the Manhyia Palace on Wednesday, October 2, Alan Kyerematen sought the support of the people in the Ashanti region and introduced his running mate to the Asantehene.

Otumfuo Osei Tutu II encouraged him to base his campaign on policy discussions, emphasizing the importance of refraining from insults while reaching out to voters.

“All I will say is that Alan Kyerematen is my grandson and I will support his vision. I will urge you to clearly explain your policies to Ghanaians so they understand what you’re capable of. Focus on your campaign and your messages and desist from politics of insult.”

The Asantehene further urged political parties to properly explain their policies to the general public and called on them to implement such policies when voted to prevent voter apathy.

“People will be losing confidence in political parties if a majority of them say they will not take part in elections and that will greatly affect the affairs of political parties. We are hoping that the political parties are able to implement their policies if they are given the nod, so there can be peace and stability in the country.”

Amidst the widespread calls for measures to be put in place to fight illegal mining, the Presidential candidate of the Movement for Change outlined his strategy aimed at addressing the canker.

“As part of my policies, I will ensure that the government does not maintain the sole ownership of the country’s mineral resources. I will make sure to involve the Chiefs as well, by making them the gold trustees of mineral rights in Ghana” Mr. Kyerematen added.

2024 polls: Alan Kyerematen vows to establish independent anti-corruption Authority https://www.adomonline.com/2024-polls-alan-kyerematen-vows-to-establish-independent-anti-corruption-authority/ Wed, 02 Oct 2024 11:38:54 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2455772 Independent Presidential Candidate for the Alliance for Revolutionary Change, Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen, has unveiled an ambitious plan to tackle corruption in Ghana, pledging to lead by example.

He emphasized that, his career has been marked by integrity, and he is committed to upholding these principles if elected.

He highlighted that, his anti-corruption agenda will contain a zero-tolerance policy, ensuring that his administration will neither tolerate nor engage in corrupt activities.

He also promised to establish an anti-corruption fund to bolster efforts in fighting corruption, urging voters to endorse his vision in the upcoming December elections.

During a session with the Institute of Economic Affairs (IEA) in Accra on Tuesday, October 1, Mr Kyerematen reaffirmed his commitment, stating, “GTP proposes zero tolerance to corruption, starting with leadership by example. I have always said I have never been corrupt and I will never be corrupt.”

Mr Kyerematen’s plan is designed to restore public trust and promote transparency in governance, with a firm pledge to take swift action against any corrupt practices within his administration.

He also introduced a proposal for an “anti-corruption jar,” an independent body with prosecutorial powers, separate from the Attorney General.

He explained that, this body would have the authority to prosecute anyone, even the president, if found guilty of corruption.

Mr Kyerematen noted that the current Office of the Special Prosecutor is hindered by its dependence on the Attorney General, affecting its independence.

“New legislation will allow for an anti-corruption jar with the courage and capacity to prosecute even the president if necessary,” he said.

He further highlighted the importance of citizen involvement in combating corruption, encouraging individuals to report suspicious activities.

Mr Kyerematen pointed out that the display of lavish lifestyles by some individuals can perpetuate corruption and that citizens must play a proactive role in addressing it.

“It’s not just about people in politics; citizens must understand their role in ending corruption. Many people in this country are living beyond their means, and it’s up to citizens to help uncover the truth,” he said.

Galamsey fight: Alan Kyerematen outlines bold 10-point plan https://www.adomonline.com/galamsey-fight-alan-kyerematen-outlines-bold-10-point-plan/ Mon, 30 Sep 2024 08:27:12 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2454807 The presidential candidate for the Afrafranto Alliance, Alan Kyerematen, has unveiled a comprehensive 10-point plan to eradicate illegal mining locally known as galamsey in Ghana.

This was at a landmark press conference at the Ghana International Press Centre together with his running mate, Kwame Owusu Danso (KOD) and other senior partners of the movement.

This ambitious blueprint, which he presented on Sunday, 29th September 2024, signals a new approach to tackling one of the country’s most pressing environmental and socio-economic challenges.

Mr Kyerematen began his address by acknowledging the devastation that Galamsey has caused across Ghana, describing it as an “existential threat” to the nation.

He painted a grim picture of the widespread destruction of water bodies, forest reserves, and farmlands, calling it the result of decades of poor governance and policy failure by both the NPP and NDC governments.

“The two dominant political parties have demonstrated that they neither have the competence, desire, nor political will to address Galamsey,” Kyerematen stated.

The cornerstone of Alan Kyerematen’s plan is a one-year complete ban on all small-scale and community mining activities, both legal and illegal.

This moratorium, he explained, would provide a necessary pause to assess and reset the country’s mining practices.

The ban would be coupled with the demobilization of all mining machinery, which would be inventoried and stored by the military’s 48 Engineer’s Regiment.

Alan Kyerematen’s plan also calls for an aggressive restoration campaign. During the one-year ban, efforts will be made to restore Ghana’s degraded river bodies and farmlands.

The Water Resources Commission, Environmental Protection Agency, and other relevant agencies will oversee this massive environmental clean-up effort.

The forestry sector will lead a plantation development initiative to rejuvenate damaged ecosystems, ensuring that the land is fully restored before any mining activities can resume.
Another bold move in Mr Kyerematen’s proposal is the cancellation of all small-scale mining licenses issued in the past 15 years.

According to him, a comprehensive audit of these licenses is necessary to uncover corruption, illegal issuance, and non-compliance with mining regulations.

“We must correct the errors of the past to build a sustainable future,” he remarked.

Mr Kyerematen’s vision for the future of mining in Ghana includes a shift to responsible mining practices.

His plan introduces a new Youth in Responsible Mining Initiative, which will transform young people previously involved in Galamsey into legal, environmentally-conscious miners.

These youth-owned companies will receive seed funding, mining equipment, concession and managerial and technical support from the government, allowing them to operate commercially viable, sustainable mining ventures on a work-and-pay basis.

The Afrafranto leader also proposed the establishment of Citizens Mining Protection Rights Groups in mining communities.

These watchdogs would ensure that all mining activities are conducted responsibly, with local communities playing an active role in monitoring compliance with environmental standards and regulations.

One of the most hard-hitting aspects of the 10-point plan is Mr Kyerematen’s proposed legislation that would impose life imprisonment for those found guilty of mining in river bodies or forest reserves.

He stressed that the stakes are too high to allow leniency in such cases, insisting that only stringent measures will deter future illegal mining when a comprehensive legal pathway has been created for responsible legal mining.

Alan Kyerematen underscored that this short-term strategy is only part of a broader vision encapsulated in his Great Transformational Plan (GTP).

Over the medium to long term, his government would undertake a comprehensive review of all legislation governing natural resource management, streamline regulatory agencies, and enhance local content in mining operations.

His ultimate goal is to transform Ghana into a mineral processing hub for West Africa.

With these sweeping reforms, Alan Kyerematen is confident that Ghana can overcome the Galamsey crisis and restore its natural environment.

“We have the resources, the will, and the plan to make Ghana great again,” he said.

In conclusion, Alan Kyerematen called on all Ghanaians to rally behind his vision, pledging that his government will leave no stone unturned in eradicating Galamsey once and for all.

“Together, we will end this menace and build a sustainable future for our children,” he vowed.

Alan Kyerematen’s proposal to EC on audit of voters register https://www.adomonline.com/alan-kyerematens-proposal-to-ec-on-audit-of-voters-register/ Wed, 25 Sep 2024 20:29:52 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2453409 Independent Presidential Candidate Alan Kyerematen, has joined calls for the Electoral Commission to audit the voters register ahead of the December 7 election.

In a statement, the leader of the Movement for Change (M4C) and the Alliance for Revolutionary Change (ARC) expressed concern about the integrity of the register.

According to him, the EC must seek to restore public confidence in the voter register and ensure the integrity of the upcoming elections.

In the statement, he proposed the establishment of a high-level Technical Working Group (TWG), chaired by the EC, and including representatives from all candidates cleared to contest the elections, as well as the data management consultants for the EC.

The TWG he noted, would be tasked with conducting a full and comprehensive audit of the current voters register, using key source documents including the final 2020 Voters Register, limited registration data since 2021, voter transfers, and special voters lists from 2020 to the present.

In line with this, each member of the group would have access to original copies of these documents to verify their authenticity.

Additionally, candidates or their representatives who possess evidence of compromised data in the current register would be required to submit it to TWG before the audit begins and that the final result of this collaborative process would be recognised as the official voters register for the 2024 general elections.

“The proposed process outlined above mirrors a ‘forensic audit’ being advocated for by a section of the Ghanaian public, and ought to come up with a Voters Register acceptable to all contestants and voters in the upcoming 2024 General Elections.

“The timeline proposed for the exercise is from the 30th September 2024 to the 11th October 2024. This would enable the EC to release a Final Voters Register by the 14th October 2024,” part of the statement read.

Mr Kyerematen has urged the EC to respond to his proposal Friday, September 27, 2024, adding that such a joint approach would ensure transparency and resolve any lingering doubts about the voters register.

Alan’s running mate, KOD storms Oti region with youth-centered campaign tour https://www.adomonline.com/alans-running-mate-kod-storms-oti-region-with-youth-centered-campaign-tour/ Wed, 25 Sep 2024 15:25:49 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2453306 The Vice-presidential candidate of the Afrafranto Alliance, Kwame Owusu Danso, popularly known as KOD, kicked off his highly anticipated campaign tour in the Oti Region to an overwhelming reception.

A native of the region, KOD visited Akaa Buem and Jasikan, where he met with chiefs, youth, and women’s groups, passionately explaining key policies from Alan Kyerematen’s Great Transformational Plan (GTP).

The youth, seeing KOD as one of their own, rallied behind him in massive numbers, igniting a wave of excitement and hope across the region.

In Akaa Buem, his ancestral home, KOD, accompanied by family members, old friends, and well-meaning citizens, made an emotional visit to his late father’s grave, laying a wreath after traditional rituals. One elder, moved by the moment, remarked that KOD had made his late father and the entire family proud.

Later, KOD met the traditional leaders and interacted with the community, focusing on youth development.
“Our plan is clear – we will empower the youth through job creation and provide financial support to help young entrepreneurs start their businesses,” he said.
He emphasized Alan Kyerematen’s 10-point plan for youth empowerment, which centres on skills development, job creation, and youth leadership.
The crowd cheered as he explained how the GTP would transform young lives across Ghana.

A major highlight of his address was the proposed establishment of 100,000 health booths across communities.

“This policy is revolutionary – it will create 100,000 jobs while decongesting our hospitals. People can check their blood pressure, sugar, and cholesterol levels right in their neighbourhoods,” he explained.

The chiefs and residents of Akaa Buem, visibly impressed, applauded his vision for accessible healthcare.

In Jasikan, KOD addressed a large gathering and spoke about the Oti Region’s potential to become the aquaculture hub of West Africa under the GTP.

“We have the resources and people to lead in aquaculture, and Alan Kyerematen’s government will ensure the Oti Region becomes the heart of fish farming in West Africa,” he declared.

His remarks on fighting corruption were met with loud cheers as he emphasized the need for a corruption-free society to foster development.

“Corruption has undermined our progress for too long, and Mr. Alan Kyerematen’s plan to consolidate anti-corruption institutions under a Czar will end it,” he added.

At every stop, the reception was electrifying, with the youth embracing KOD. Okada riders shared their frustrations about limited job opportunities. KOD reassured them that under their leadership, they would benefit from agro-industrial policies like the New Agricultural Revolution. “This revolution will create thousands of jobs for you right here in the Oti Region,” he promised.

KOD also visited the chiefs of the Muslim community, assuring them of their plans for the Muslim community in Ghana, which include creating job opportunities for the youth and putting Makaranta teachers on the GES payroll.

KOD’s ability to simplify complex policies resonated deeply with the crowd, who saw him not just as a political figure but as one of their own.

“KOD is not just a leader; he’s our brother, and we trust him to deliver,” said one enthusiastic youth.

His campaign tour is not just a political movement but a beacon of hope for the youth and a clarion call for change in the Oti Region.

As the tour continues, KOD’s growing popularity proves his message is resonating.

“Together with Alan Kyerematen, we will build the Oti Region and bring prosperity to our people,” KOD declared to thunderous applause, marking the beginning of what is shaping up to be a powerful campaign in his home region.

Danso, standing alongside his running mate Alan Kyerematen, expressed his deep gratitude to his family, friends, and colleagues who supported him along the way.

Reflecting on his childhood, Danso credited his late grandmother, Diana Boham, for instilling in him the value of hard work and learning.

“She devoted hours to ensuring I understood the importance of education and hard work,” he said, his voice filled with emotion. He also paid tribute to his late father, Emmanuel Kofi Owusu Danso, a retired Chief Inspector of the Ghana Police Service, and his mother, Georgina Owusu Danso, who traded to support the family. “Their discipline and silent resilience shaped the person I am today.”

Danso’s speech also highlighted his journey from Akyem Asafo to Tema, where he encountered kind souls who helped him survive during tough times. He fondly remembered “Yaa Dufie, the Banku seller at Akyem Asafo, and Maame Otima, who sold kenkey at Akyem Asafo Secondary School,” for feeding him when he was hungry. “These small acts of kindness showed me the true meaning of humanity,” he said.

I’ll place one-year ban on small-scale mining – Alan Kyerematen https://www.adomonline.com/ill-place-one-year-ban-on-small-scale-mining-alan-kyerematen/ Mon, 16 Sep 2024 15:37:40 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2449590 Founder and leader of the Movement for Change, Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen, says he will impose a one-year ban on small-scale mining if he wins the upcoming December elections.

According to him, once the ban is imposed, all the machinery and equipment including the earth-moving equipment will be immobilised.

Speaking on JoyNews’ AM Show on September 17, he said, “I will make sure they are moved into a storage preservation environment and I am proposing that the field engineer’s management of the armed forces will be responsible for that.”

Mr Kyerematen also noted that during the one-year ban, the government will utilise the advanced technology to restore all affected water bodies.

He explained that within the year that the mining is banned, a new framework will be established to help young people who will be displaced.

“There is going to be a period where all the degraded lands will be restored and that in itself is a major commercial activity, which the young people engaged in galamsey will have the opportunity of being part of the restoration.”

To support those affected by the ban, Kyerematen outlined plans to create new opportunities for young people displaced by the mining halt.

“Within that one year period, the government will also support the young people to establish their own mining companies. They will be provided with machinery and equipment which will be used in a sustainable way. Right now, if you look at the implements they use, obviously it is not the kind of instruments they should use for mining,” he said.

He also added that the government will provide displaced individuals with working capital to support sustainable mining ventures and will grant them the necessary licensing rights.

Why should you resists calls for forensic audit? – Alan quizzes EC https://www.adomonline.com/why-should-you-resists-calls-for-forensic-audit-alan-quizzes-ec/ Mon, 16 Sep 2024 12:50:12 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2449500

Founder of Moment for Change, Alan Kyerematen, has advised the Electoral Commission (EC) to address concerns identified by political parties ahead of the December elections.

According to him, the commission has the mandate to conduct free and fair elections and must ensure that all stakeholders trust the system.

If concerns are raised about the process, he said the EC should work to clear any doubts in the minds of the people.

His comments were in response to the National Democratic Congress (NDC) request for a forensic audit of the register.

Mr. Kyerematen stated that the NDC, being a major stakeholder, has pointed out certain discrepancies. Therefore, the EC has the responsibility to prove that it is committed to running a free and fair election.

Speaking on JoyNews’ News Desk on September 16, he said “For the sake of ensuring the integrity of the elections, to respond to the specific cases that have been identified about irregularities in the voters’ register.

“It only goes to enhance the credibility of the commission. Yes. It [forensic audit] has to be. I am not sure why there should be a resistance to that. Because, yes the Electoral Commission has indicated that they have responded to those comments.

“But we have to put all reasonable doubt. There is a need to have a credible voter register. So if there is an indication that there is still doubt associated with the electoral register, then let us allow an extensive comprehensive audit, which can be done without any difficulty,” he said.

The presidential aspirants said this would help improve the perception about the credibility of the EC.

Mr Kyerematen said although the EC has an incredible track record in Africa, there is a need to ensure that their reputation remains intact.

Additionally, he said the election management body has the responsibility to prove that the electoral register is clean and has no basis for complaints.

“It is only through an audit that this could happen,” he said.

2024 polls: Alan Kyerematen files nomination to contest for presidential elections https://www.adomonline.com/2024-polls-alan-kyerematen-files-nomination-to-contest-for-presidential-elections/ Thu, 12 Sep 2024 10:55:03 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2447722 Wednesday, September 12, marked a pivotal moment in Ghana’s political landscape as Alan Kyerematen officially filed his nomination to contest the 2024 presidential elections as an independent candidate, backed by a political alliance known as the Afrafranto Alliance.

His entry comes at a time when the youth are increasingly disheartened with the political status quo, offering a glimmer of hope for young Ghanaians seeking a leader who understands their struggles and aspirations.

Mr Alan Kyerematen has fulfilled his promise of selecting a youthful running mate by picking Kwame Owusu Danso (KOD), a lawyer, broadcast journalist, corporate executive, and youth activist. KOD’s choice has already sparked excitement among the youth on social media.

After filing his nomination, Mr Kyerematen reiterated that he is only a transitional leader fighting for the youth to have the opportunity to lead the country. To this end, he has also pledged that 50% of his appointees will be youth.

Central to his campaign is the Great Transformational Plan (GTP), which directly addresses the needs of Ghanaians, particularly the youth. Unlike the manifestos of the major political parties, which have often failed to deliver, the GTP outlines a clear and actionable strategy for economic transformation, job creation, and national development. For the millions of young people facing unemployment and underemployment, Alan Kyerematen’s plan offers a real opportunity for economic stability, growth, resilience, and prosperity.

With a strong track record in both the public and private sectors, Alan Kyerematen brings a wealth of experience. His tenure as Minister of Trade and Industry and his international achievements at the United Nations and World Trade Organization have earned him a reputation as a results-oriented leader. For young voters, his focus on creating jobs, supporting entrepreneurship, and fostering skills development positions him as a candidate who can provide practical solutions to their pressing concerns.

The Afrafranto Alliance, supporting Alan Kyerematen’s bid, is gaining momentum among civil society groups and grassroots movements, many led by young activists. Frustrated with the broken promises of traditional parties, these groups view Mr. Kyerematen as a leader capable of transcending party lines and focusing on the nation’s future. His proposed government of national unity, drawing from all sectors of society, signals a departure from the winner-takes-all politics that have long characterized Ghana’s governance system.

Alan Kyerematen’s candidacy also presents Ghana with an opportunity to break free from its reliance on external institutions like the IMF and World Bank. Both the NPP and NDC have overseen economic downturns that resulted in IMF bailouts. Alan Kyerematen’s independent run, anchored by the GTP, offers a fresh approach to building a self-sustaining economy.

His emphasis on fixing the macro-economy, launching a new agricultural revolution, industrial transformation, and investing in tourism infrastructure with private sector partnerships has caught the attention of many Ghanaians. Besides, his governance reforms, which proposed replacing the Council of State with a Second Chamber, establishing an Anti-corruption Czar with prosecutorial powers, and limiting his administration to just 40 ministers, have resonated widely.

Furthermore, Alan Kyerematen’s focus on mindset and behavioral change, promoting respect for law and order, patriotism, work ethic, and discipline, has been hailed as a standout feature of the GTP. His advocacy for private sector participation in building economic and social infrastructure further strengthens his development agenda, while his environmental and natural resource management policies resonate with youth eager for change.

As Alan Kyerematen filed his nomination, the 2024 election is shaping up to be a battle for the hearts and minds of young voters. His independent candidacy offers a clear alternative to the political establishment, with a focus on job creation, skills development, and economic transformation. In Mr. Kyerematen, young Ghanaians may have a candidate who not only understands their challenges but is ready to take decisive action for a brighter future.

Mr. Kyerematen, a distinguished global economist, Lawyer, development consultant, and trade expert has led significant projects across Africa. His achievements include founding Empretec, which nurtured 60-70% of Ghana’s top businesses, spearheading Enterprise Africa to promote private sector growth in 14 African countries, facilitating the establishment of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) to boost intra-African trade, initiating One District, One Factory (1D1F), which created 170,000 jobs, and establishing the Ghana Automotive Development Industry, employing young engineers.
