Strong and principled political parties create prosperous nations – Jeff Radebe

Special Envoy to the President of South Africa, H.E. Jeff Radebe, has urged political parties across Africa to be vibrant and principled leaders to guide their nations toward prosperity.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the African Political Parties Summit 2025, he emphasized that political parties are the core of government and should serve as custodians of vision, not merely political machines.

“For too long, Africa has been scarred by politics that prizes victory over vision,” H.E. Radebe said.

He passionately noted that politics must lead to prosperity; otherwise, it becomes a distraction. He called on political parties to engage in dialogue, agree to disagree without destruction, and compete without causing destabilization. He also encouraged African nations to share knowledge openly.

According to him, Africa’s challenge is not a lack of blueprints or master plans but the political courage to put country before party and accept short-term political costs for long-term national gains.

He urged political leaders to focus not on how many elections are won but on how many lives are transformed.
