The Ghana National Council of Private Schools (GNACOPS) is warning district directors of education to desist from harassing members to pay money for training on the new curriculum which takes effect from September.
Currently, training is ongoing across the country on the new curriculum which comes into effect next academic year.
Over 70,000 teachers are expected to be trained in 960 private schools across the country.
At the University of Ghana Basic School where some teachers were being trained, teachers were grouped into various classes as trainers take them through the content of the standard-based curriculum.
Addressing a section of the media, Executive Director of GNACOPS, Enoch Kwasi Gyetuah bemoaned how some directors of education were harassing their members for compulsory training.
He added that the curriculum gives them level playing field to put the data of its members together for the teacher licensure examination.
Mr Gyetuah observed that the new curriculum presents an opportunity for private schools to continue to lead the education sector when it comes to basic education in the country and the Council will not leave any stone unturned.
Some teachers receiving the training told Adom News the content of the new curriculum presents opportunity for them to teach pupils on the practical way of doing things.
According to them, teachers and Ghanaians should embrace the new way of teaching and learning as the standard-based curriculum stipulates.
