Ghanaian Afro-dancehall star Livingstone Etse Satekla, popularly known as Stonebwoy, has sent a heartfelt message of encouragement to the Black Queens ahead of their crucial quarterfinal clash at the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
The Black Queens will take on Algeria on Saturday, July 19, at the Stade Municipal de Berkane, with a place in the semifinals at stake.
Speaking exclusively to Asempa FM, Stonebwoy urged the national team to bring glory to Ghana by advancing to the finals. He also called on Ghanaians to throw their support behind the team.
“I enjoy women’s football more than men’s football and have been following it, especially the new player Chantelle Boye. I’ve been doing videos to encourage them,” he said.
“Myself, and I believe all Ghanaians, are rallying behind them, so they should make us proud by beating Algeria this Saturday,” the musician added.
Stonebwoy also expressed his desire to meet the team upon their return from the tournament.
The Black Queens finished second in Group C after a mixed run—falling 2-0 to defending champions South Africa, drawing 1-1 with Mali, and sealing a 4-1 win over Tanzania in their final group match.
Kick-off is scheduled for 16:00 GMT.
