Dancehall artiste Stonebwoy has paid an emotional tribute to Jamaican reggae musician Fantan Mojah following news of his death, describing him as a cultural icon whose music inspired generations around the world.

In a post shared on X, formerly Twitter, Stonebwoy reflected on Fantan Mojah’s recent visit to Ghana for the 2025 Bhim Festival, saying it was an honour to welcome the reggae star to the Motherland and celebrate his enduring legacy.

“The Macka Tree Goes Home. It was an honor to welcome you to the Motherland and to celebrate your legacy at BHIMFESTIVAL 25,” Stonebwoy wrote.

Referencing Fantan Mojah’s iconic song Macka Tree, Stonebwoy described the late musician as a figure who remained committed to culture, truth and the promotion of positive messages through music.

“You stood tall like the Macka Tree – rooted in culture, unshaken in truth, and sheltering generations with your sound. Rest well, Jah Warrior,” he said.

Stonebwoy added that although Fantan Mojah had “returned to the ancestors,” his voice and influence would continue to live on through the music, prayers and movements inspired by his work.

He praised the late reggae artiste’s contribution to music, noting that his songs went beyond entertainment to provide inspiration and encouragement to millions.

“Your songs were more than music – they were medicine, they were fire, they were faith. You uplifted my spirit, and you continue to uplift millions worldwide,” Stonebwoy said.

He concluded the tribute with the words: “Fantan Mojah Forever in our hearts.”

Fantan Mojah was widely known for his spiritually conscious reggae music and messages centred on faith, justice and African identity, earning him a strong following across the world.
