Vice Chairman of the Black Stars Management Committee, Stephen Appiah, has expressed satisfaction with the team’s performances despite consecutive defeats during their November international friendlies.
Ghana travelled to Asia as part of their build-up to next year’s World Cup, facing Japan and South Korea. The Black Stars fell 2-0 to Japan at Toyota Stadium before losing 1-0 to South Korea at Seoul World Cup Stadium, leaving the squad without a win in the international window.
Appiah, a former captain of the national team, praised the players for their efforts and commitment on the pitch.
“I’m so happy with the performance of the guys, especially in the second game against South Korea. Against Japan, the second half they played well, and against South Korea they played even better,” Appiah told Kobe Boujee.
“We went there for results, but at times it’s not only about the results but also about the performance. You watch certain games and see teams losing, but the fans applaud them, which means they gave everything. That’s what our guys did.
“I am also happy that some of the guys had the chance to show themselves because they have been in camp for many months, getting call-ups but not getting the chance to play. Platforms like these give them the opportunity to prove themselves,” he added.
The Black Stars are scheduled to regroup in March to continue preparations for the World Cup, which will be jointly hosted by the USA, Canada, and Mexico.
