The Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) has announced a new policy requiring all pensioners to renew their Pensioner Certificates annually, starting April 2026.
Under the revised rules, pensioners who retire at age 60 or voluntarily at 55 must renew their certificates every year during their birth month to ensure uninterrupted pension payments. SSNIT says the measure aims to strengthen the integrity of the pension scheme and ensure payments reach only eligible and living beneficiaries.
Renewals can be completed through the SSNIT Mobile App using facial verification, the SSNIT Virtual Branch, partner banks, or any SSNIT office nationwide. For pensioners with mobility challenges, SSNIT has arranged home visits, which can be scheduled by calling the SSNIT Contact Centre on 0302 611 622.
The Trust confirmed that pensioners will receive reminders at least a month before their birth month via SMS, email, or other approved channels, and encouraged all beneficiaries to comply with the new arrangement.
