Minister for Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, has reiterated the government’s commitment to advancing women’s football in Ghana, with a strong emphasis on supporting the Black Queens to excel both continentally and globally.
Addressing Parliament on Tuesday, July 29, Mr. Adams pledged his Ministry’s determination to improve the welfare, training conditions, and overall development of all national teams, especially the senior women’s team.
“Mr. Speaker, the Ministry of Sports and Recreation remains committed to enhancing the welfare, training conditions, and development pathways for all national teams, including the Black Queens. This performance is a springboard for renewed investment in women’s sports infrastructure and capacity building.
“The government will continue to provide the platform and resources for our female athletes to excel at the highest level,” Mr. Adams stated.
His remarks came as Parliament formally honoured the Black Queens for securing a bronze medal at the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) held in Morocco.
As part of the celebration, the Minority in Parliament presented the team with a cash donation of GHS100,000 to recognise their achievement and boost morale ahead of future competitions.
