South Africa will welcome Ghana’s Black Galaxies to Gauteng later this month for an international friendly, the South African Football Association (SAFA) has announced.
The match is slated for Tuesday, 16 December 2025, and will form a key part of Bafana Bafana’s final preparations ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, though the venue is yet to be confirmed.
The South African squad is expected to fly to Morocco the following day to complete their AFCON preparations.
Ghana’s senior team narrowly missed out on qualification for AFCON 2025, marking their first absence from the tournament in more than 20 years.
The Black Galaxies, led by Coach Kassim Mingle, will use the friendly to gear up for their upcoming CHAN qualifiers.
The squad has been training at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram, taking part in friendly matches to sharpen their form and cohesion.
Bafana Bafana will compete in Group B at AFCON 2025 alongside Egypt, Angola, and Zimbabwe, opening their campaign against Angola on 22 December.
The tournament runs from 21 December 2025 through January 2026.
