Former Member of Parliament for Manhyia North, Collins Owusu Amankwah, has criticised what he describes as unprofessional conduct by some police officers during night patrols.
Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen show, he alleged that certain officers tasked with ensuring police visibility at night have instead harassed and extorted money from sex workers.
“In terms of night visibility, when they are doing police patrols, some units or groups of officers target night workers. They don’t do the work they are supposed to do,” he said.
“Some also create false narratives to extort money from people. It’s not right,” he added.
He further called on the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) to urgently address the misconduct, stressing that such actions undermine public trust and fall short of proper policing standards.
