Sokode-Juaso chief supports over 1,500 widows, vulnerable persons with rice donation

The Chief of Sokode-Juaso in the Abuakwa North Municipality of the Eastern Region, Barimah (Dr) Kwabena Awuah Parker I, has extended humanitarian support to more than 1,500 widows, aged persons and other vulnerable individuals across several communities.

The beneficiaries, drawn from Kumasi Bethel, Koforidua and Sokode-Juaso, received bags of rice as part of a charitable initiative aimed at easing hardship among the less privileged.

The donation exercise, which culminated at Sokode-Juaso on Sunday, December 28, 2025, was organised by Sokode-Juaso Youth for Development as part of broader efforts to promote social welfare and community solidarity.

Addressing participants, Dr Awuah Parker I expressed gratitude to God for His protection over the people of Sokode-Juaso and commended residents for their continued cooperation and support, which he described as essential to effective traditional leadership.

In a further show of goodwill, the Chief presented GH¢15,000 to the youth organisers, praising their commitment to community service.

He assured them of increased support and broader participation in future editions of the programme.

He also announced the availability of land at Sokode-Juaso for citizens at home and in the diaspora interested in building and investing, describing the initiative as part of a wider plan to accelerate development in the area.

Dr Awuah Parker I concluded with a call for unity, peace and social cohesion, stressing that collective effort remains the foundation of sustainable development in Sokode-Juaso.

The programme attracted traditional leaders, youth groups, community members and beneficiaries, many of whom lauded the Chief and the youth for their dedication to humanitarian service and community advancement.
