The Sisters Keepers Association (SKA Global), a women-led international nonprofit dedicated to supporting the elderly and raising awareness about Alzheimer’s and dementia, is once again organizing its flagship initiative, Time with the Aged.
This year’s event marks a significant milestone in the organization’s journey and underscores its continued commitment to elder care, women’s empowerment, and community development.
Time with the Aged is one of SKA’s most cherished annual programs, aimed at providing care, companionship, and encouragement to senior citizens—many of whom face age-related health challenges, including Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia.
In addition to supporting the elderly, the program also serves as a platform to raise public awareness about the importance of elder care and mental health in Ghana and beyond.
Speaking to Adom News ahead of the anniversary, SKA Co-founder Christine Amuzu appealed to individuals, institutions, and organizations to support the event as a meaningful way of giving back to the elderly while also empowering girls in local communities.
“For years, we have supported and uplifted elderly individuals, particularly women, while also mentoring and equipping girls as part of our broader mission to strengthen communities,” Amuzu stated.
The Sisters Keepers Association has evolved into a global movement, with active chapters in Ghana, the United States, the United Kingdom, Norway, and Germany. Expansion plans are underway as passionate members around the world continue to champion the organization’s mission.
“Our goal has always been to ensure that no elderly person feels forgotten,” said a representative of the USA Chapter of SKA Global. “Through this initiative, we celebrate their lives, honor their stories, and reinforce the value they continue to bring to our communities.”
