Sinapi Aba’s Joyce Owusu-Dabo honored “Personality of the Decade” by African Women in Banking and Finance Magazine

Chief Programs Officer at Sinapi Aba Trust, Joyce Owusu-Dabo, has been conferred the Personality of the Decade title at the 10th Anniversary Personalities of the Decade Awards by the African Women in Banking and Finance (AWiBF) Magazine.

With over 20 years of transformative leadership in the financial sector, Mrs. Owusu-Dabo was recognized for her outstanding contributions to financial inclusion and women’s empowerment.

Her unwavering commitment to uplifting women and marginalized communities has driven impactful initiatives, including the Women in SME Mentorship Program, which has empowered over 1,000 female entrepreneurs.

A passionate advocate for gender equality in finance, Mrs. Owusu-Dabo pioneered the establishment of a Gender Desk at Sinapi Aba, introducing tailored interventions such as women-only financial products and spousal training programs for male partners of female clients.

Her influence extends to youth empowerment through the Youth Apprenticeship Program, which has equipped over 5,000 young Ghanaians—90% of them women—with vocational skills, fostering economic independence and societal growth.

Launched in 2014 as Ghana’s first awards platform for women in banking and finance, the initiative highlights female leaders in the sector.

It also seeks to promote inclusive financial solutions and provide mentorship support for young women in the industry.

The Decade’s list included past award winners whose work continues to make impact in the banking sector.

The awardees were celebrated for their influence on women both within and beyond the financial industry, their leadership impacts in the last decade and the organizational standing.

Executive Editor of AWiBF Magazine, Joshua N. Obuam, highlighted these exceptional qualities exhibited by the awardees, affirmed their recognition.

Management of Sinapi Aba celebrated her for the remarkable achievement.

In attendance of the event were Prof. Gladys Nabieu Professor of Finance at the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA), Patricia Sappor, Immediate Past President of the Chartered Institute of Bankers Ghana, Mary Brown, Former Deputy Managing Director of Prudential Bank Ghana, and Ishmael Samson
