SIGA drives accountability with high-level meeting on performance contracts

In a decisive effort to strengthen accountability and enhance performance in Ghana’s public sector, the State Interests and Governance Authority (SIGA) recently convened a high-level meeting with selected Specific Entities (SEs).

The meeting brought together key government officials, including representatives from the Office of the President, and was chaired by the Presidential Advisor on the Economy, Seth Terkper.

Central to the discussions was the urgent need to ensure full compliance with performance contracts signed between the government and state-owned enterprises.

Stakeholders examined the serious implications of non-compliance and emphasized the importance of these contracts in promoting efficiency, transparency, and value creation within public institutions.

Director-General of SIGA, Prof. Michael Kpessa-Whyte, underscored the importance of the issue.
“Performance contracts are not just administrative paperwork; they are essential tools for measuring progress, enforcing responsibility, and safeguarding the public interest,” he stated.

He reaffirmed SIGA’s commitment to working with all relevant stakeholders to foster a culture of high performance and good governance across the public sector.

The meeting concluded with a renewed pledge from participating entities to uphold their contractual obligations and a collective commitment to building a results-oriented public sector that aligns with Ghana’s development agenda.

As SIGA continues to lead the charge for greater accountability, this engagement marks a pivotal step toward ensuring state institutions deliver effectively on their mandates for the benefit of all Ghanaians.
