A bittersweet high school relationship has taken a painful turn as 19-year-old Bismark seeks justice after raising a child for one year and five months, only to be told he is not the biological father.
Appearing on Nhyira FM’s Obra Show, Bismark shared a heartbreaking account of how he supported a young woman he believed he had impregnated—only for her to recently confess that the child belongs to her ex-boyfriend.
“I had doubts during the pregnancy,” Bismark revealed. “I suspected she was still involved with her ex, but she kept assuring me I was the father. I stood by her, took care of her, and loved the child like my own.”
According to Bismark, the girl’s family was hostile toward him after the pregnancy was discovered. He claimed her father even threatened him with police action if he failed to take responsibility.
“They harassed me the whole time. Her father tried to get me arrested,” he said.
Despite the pressure and rejection, Bismark said he took full responsibility—financially and emotionally—throughout the pregnancy and after the child was born.
But on the show, the emotional rollercoaster took another shocking turn when the girl at the center of the controversy, identified as Janet, first denied all claims—only to later admit that she knew Bismark was not the father.
“I told my mother, and she asked me to keep quiet until a DNA test is done,” Janet confessed. She also admitted to dating two men at the time because she was struggling to feed herself. “I was hungry,” she said, drawing gasps from the audience and panel.
Host of the show, Ohemaa Benewaa, was visibly disturbed. “Janet, you are a bad girl,” she exclaimed. “How can a small girl like you be sleeping around? Look at how you embarrassed your parents. If you knew Bismark wasn’t the father, why let him suffer for so long?”
Ohemaa declared that a DNA test would be conducted to settle the matter once and for all. “If the DNA proves Bismark is not the father, you will pay back every pesewa he has spent—he mentioned 20,000 cedis. But if it turns out the child is his, then you’ve emotionally tortured him unjustly.”
The panelists on the show expressed outrage at Janet’s actions. Gifty Donkor, popularly known as Big Mama insisted a DNA test was unnecessary, given Janet’s admission. “She strategically planned this,” she said.
But Evangelist Degraft Addae disagreed, stressing the need for a DNA test. “This girl is cunning. She could change her story again. And what if the child is actually Bismark’s, but she’s chasing her ex now because he’s doing well financially?”
Lady Gold, another panelist, condemned the behavior of the young woman and lamented the lack of parental control in today’s youth. “The mother herself seems confused. Had they known the truth, they wouldn’t have threatened Bismark with the police,” she added.
Listeners flooded the phone lines with mixed reactions. While many sympathized with Bismark’s pain and betrayal, others expressed concern over the moral decay among the youth.
Ohemaa Benewaa concluded the show with a call for responsibility and accountability in relationships. “This is beyond teenage romance—it’s about the consequences of deceit. Let this be a lesson to all young people: When in doubt, speak up, ask questions, and seek the truth.”
As the show ended, Bismark, heartbroken but determined, stated his intention to pursue justice. “All I want is the truth—and what is rightfully mine,” he said.
The DNA test results could either confirm Bismark’s worst fears or throw the entire case into a new light.
