Musician and political activist, Kwame A Plus has jumped to the defense of dancehall act Shatta Wale following his recent fracas with Stonebwoy at the recently held Vodafone Ghana Music Awards 2019.
Speaking on Asempa FM’s political talk show, Ekosii Sen, on Monday, A Plus said Shatta Wale meant no harm and only wanted to commend Stonebwoy for winning the ‘Reggae/Dancehall Artiste of the Year’ 2019.
He explained that prior to the event, he spoke with Shatta Wale who even told him that he would do a similar gesture to make peace if Stonebwoy wins ‘Artiste of the Year’ but it was rather unfortunate that never happened.
“It was a good idea gone wrong. If something like this goes on, every rational person would be remorseful but I believe that he [Shatta Wale] was going on the stage to congratulate Stonebwoy.

“I called him a day before the event and told him that he should make sure the awards go well. He told me if Stonebwoy wins ‘Artiste of the Year,’ he would go forth and congratulate him. I think it’s a miscommunication. Shatta wanted to mark the 20th anniversary on peace but not beat anyone for an award,” he noted.
A Plus praised the Ghana Police Service for arresting the two musicians amidst investigations. He prayed post-sanctions by the police wouldn’t affect the works of both acts.
“Now the Ghanaian police are doing well and handled the case well. They understand showbiz. I hope they will be able to finish with the investigation on time so they will be released.

“I feel it’s an opportunity to put things right. It got to a time, the Nigerians were taking over the industry. I am Shatta’s number one supporter and Stonebwoy is taking Ghana far so I feel we have to look at the larger picture. We have to look at where Ghana’s Music has gotten to. We don’t have to bring people’s interest down. We shouldn’t let the sanctions affect our entertainment industry,” A Plus said.
