Ghanaian dancehall musician Shatta Wale has hinted at a possible political ambition, stating that he could consider contesting an election as an independent candidate if public calls for him grow stronger ahead of 2028.

Speaking in an interview on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme, the artiste, born Charles Nii Armah Jnr., said he has no intention of aligning himself with any political party.

“If people call on me to enter politics, I will do it, but I am not coming into it because I am rich; rather, I want to serve the interests of the people, and I will contest the Ablekuma South seat. But I don’t want to belong to any political party. It will be more as an independent candidate. I would consider it if the calls intensify in 2028,” he said.

Shatta Wale explained that his deep love for Ghana is one reason he remains committed to the country despite opportunities to travel and live abroad.

“I love Ghana so much that when someone tells me to travel outside, I feel worried because I spend more when I travel. It is expensive out there,” he stated.

According to him, living in Ghana gives him a sense of freedom and comfort that he values greatly.

“But in Ghana, I live freely. Sometimes I go to places and I’m able to walk out,” he added.

The dancehall artiste further encouraged Ghanaians to maintain a positive outlook, noting that a strong mindset can inspire meaningful change in society.

“If you have a positive mindset, you can make a change a lot,” he said.
