Self-centeredness among men of God affecting the work of God – Bishop Tackie-Yarboi

The Presiding Bishop of the Victory Bible Church International, Bishop N. A. Tackie-Yarboi, has expressed concern over what he describes as growing self-centeredness among some men of God, warning that it is negatively affecting the work of God and the credibility of the church.

Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen show, Bishop Tackie-Yarboi said many church leaders today have become overly focused on personal ambition and material gain, rather than spiritual growth and service to God.

“It’s dangerous to build a church around yourself. Every organization rises and falls on the leader, so as you grow, you must also raise other leaders. If you don’t, the church will die with you,” he cautioned.

The renowned preacher noted that unlike in the past when ministers had to prove their divine calling through character and humility, today’s generation places less emphasis on integrity.

“During our time, you had to be genuine and prove that you were called by God so that people could emulate you. Now, the moral aptitude has gone down, and that’s flowing into the church too,” he lamented.

Bishop Tackie-Yarboi also revealed plans to allow a structured organization to manage Victory Bible Church International to ensure continuity and growth beyond his leadership.

He urged church leaders to embrace accountability, remain teachable, and avoid turning doctrine into rigid dogma.

“Don’t put God into a straitjacket. Walk with Him and stop doctrinizing Him into a box. God is a living being,” he advised.

Victory Bible Church International currently operates over 300 branches across Ghana and abroad.
