Selective justice must concern Mahama – Nana Boakye

The National Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Henry Nana Boakye, has accused the government of applying justice selectively and targeting political opponents.

Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen show, he alleged that while some members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) implicated in wrongdoing remain unpunished, NPP members and journalists critical of the government face harassment and arrests.

Nana Boakye cited the arrest of Bono Regional Chairman Kwame Baffoe Abronye and the government’s inaction on reports linking certain NDC figures to illegal mining (galamsey) as examples of double standards.

He urged President John Mahama to ensure the fair application of the law, warning that selective justice undermines democracy and national unity.

“People are feeling intimidated. Many have called for the arrest of Ralph for what happened at Ridge Hospital, yet nothing has been done. Abronye was arrested, but others have not. This indicates a pattern of selective justice and the criminalisation of free speech. NPP members are being targeted, and journalists are being arrested simply for expressing opinions against the government,” he said.

He added that the party had sent a letter to EOCO highlighting alleged galamsey involvement by NDC members, but no action had been taken. “If this trend continues, it raises serious concerns about freedom of speech under the current administration,” Nana Boakye warned.
