The one-week observance of the late Member of Parliament for Akwatia, Ernest Yaw Kumi, is being held at the Akyem Wenchi Funeral Grounds in the Eastern Region, drawing a large gathering of mourners.
The ceremony has attracted attendees from across the political spectrum, including lawmakers and members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), alongside relatives and residents of Akyem Wenchi, who have come to honour the late legislator.
Mr. Kumi, aged 40, passed away on Monday, July 7, 2025, following a short illness, leaving behind his wife and children.
Preparations are also underway for a by-election to fill his parliamentary seat, with the Electoral Commission scheduling the vote for September 2, 2025.
