Caterers under the Ghana School Feeding Programme have announced plans to petition the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, seeking his intervention following the termination of their contracts by the Mahama administration.
On May 2, 2025, the contracts of all caterers under the programme were terminated, with no official explanation given for when new contracts would be issued. While assurances have been made regarding the payment of outstanding arrears, no specific timeline has been provided.
In an interview on Citi FM, Madam Margaret Larbi, Deputy Public Relations Officer of the National School Feeding Caterers Association, revealed that the group is reaching out to traditional and religious leaders for mediation.
“Our President has instructed us to send petitions, and we are trying to contact Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Asantehene, for his intervention,” she stated.
Madam Larbi also mentioned that the caterers plan to engage with other influential figures, including the National Chief Imam, Osmanu Nuhu Sharubutu.
“We are hoping the Chief Imam can intercede on our behalf. Tomorrow [Friday, May 9], we will be sending petitions to other key individuals who can speak for us,” she added.
