The Santasi community in the Kumasi Metropolis has embarked on the construction of an ICT centre and a library to enhance quality education in the area.
The community-led self-help project is expected to be completed within 24 months. However, residents are appealing to the government, corporate organisations, and philanthropists to support the initiative to ensure its timely completion.

Speaking at a sod-cutting ceremony, the Essuowin Hene, Nana Akyena Kwagyan Nuama V, who also serves as Otumfuo’s Kontire, described the project as a significant step towards improving educational standards in Santasi and its surrounding communities.

“Education is the key to every nation’s success, and I want to ensure better education in my community to raise future leaders,” he stated.
The Assembly Member for the Santasi Electoral Area, Kofi Yamoah, noted that the lack of a library and ICT centre over the years has negatively affected academic performance in the community.

“For many years, Santasi has had no library or ICT centre, which has impacted our children. These facilities are being constructed to bridge that gap,” he said.
He also urged students in the area to take their education seriously and avoid engaging in illicit drug use.
The Headmistress of Santasi Methodist Basic and Junior High School, Mrs Emily Abraham, commended the traditional leadership and the community for the initiative, describing the project as timely and critical to academic development.
