Residents of Netlink Estates, near Jesus Living Testimony for Jesus Bible Ministry Church at Kokrobite, a suburb of Kasoa, have expressed frustration at the manner in which their lives are being tormented by sand winners.

According to them, the activities of the sand winners have been endangering their lives in the area.

In an interview with the DAILY HERITAGE, some of the residents said the activities of sand winners had left buildings in the area in pits.

Mr Francis Hackman, a resident, said they are living in fear because of a possible collapse of the hills which have become death traps.

He said similar situations once occurred at various parts of the country and people died when the unexpected happened.

Mr Hackman added that it would therefore be prudent for various district assemblies to wage a relentless war on the illegal sand winners to bring the situation under control.

He said the community, over the past three months, had been turned into a sand winning spot by some individuals who have made sand winning their source of livelihood, hence changing the usual formation of the surface of the land.

Other residents who interacted with the paper said they do not accept that sand winning as a source of livelihood because its impact is detrimental to the lives of people and the tranquility of the country.
