The Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, Samuel Nartey George, has announced significant reductions in fibre broadband prices by MTN Ghana , describing the move as a response to sustained engagement between the government and the telecommunications company.
In a post on X formally Twitter, the Minister said the reductions took effect immediately and would make high-speed internet more affordable for households and businesses across the country.
According to him, subscribers who previously paid GH¢987 for a month of unlimited 100 Mbps fibre broadband will now pay GH¢299 for the same package.
He further disclosed that customers can now access a 300 Mbps unlimited broadband package for GH¢444, while a 500 Mbps unlimited package will cost GH¢999.
Reflecting on the development, Mr George wrote:
“You demanded. We engaged. MTNGhana has responded.
Effective today, fibre broadband prices have crashed!
Previously, for a month of unlimited 100 Mbps broadband, you paid GHS 987. Today, for the same 100 Mbps, you pay GHS 299.
For GHS999, you get a 500 Mbps unlimited broadband package, and for GHS444, you get a 300 Mbps unlimited package.
I want to express my gratitude to the management and staff of MTN who have heeded our call for more affordable, stable and reliable fibre broadband. From the Ministry of Communication, Digital , Technology and Innovation , will continue to push for better service packages for the Ghanaian people.
For God and Country.”
The Minister said the government remains committed to working with industry players to improve digital access and ensure that Ghanaians benefit from affordable, stable and reliable internet services.
