Former running mate of the Ghana Freedom Party (GFP), Roman Fada, has visited the final resting place of the party’s founder, Akua Donkor, to commemorate the first anniversary of her passing.
Madam Akua Donkor died on Tuesday, October 28, 2024, at the Ridge Hospital in Accra. She was laid to rest on March 29, 2025, at a ceremony that drew supporters, political figures and admirers of her unconventional yet spirited political journey.
As part of the one-year anniversary, family members and GFP representatives gathered for a tomb unveiling ceremony at Ejuratia.
Roman Fada’s visit, marked by solemn reflection at the graveside, was his way of honouring a woman he described as fearless and unapologetically committed to her convictions. He noted that Akua Donkor’s legacy continues to inspire many grassroots supporters who admired her boldness and distinctive style of politics.
He further called on GFP members and sympathizers to uphold the principles she championed and to keep the party active in her honour.
Her passing, he said, has left a significant void within the party and in Ghana’s political space.
