Risk jobs and relationships if… – Savannah Minister warns MMDCEs

The Savannah Regional Minister, Salisu Be-Awuribe, has cautioned Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) in the region to diligently adhere to President John Dramani Mahama’s directives to deliver on the reset agenda promised to Ghanaians.

He warned that any officer who disregards the President’s instructions risks losing their job.

The Minister emphasized his commitment to ensuring the best outcomes for the Savannah Region, regardless of personal relationships.

“We have no justification whatsoever to delay in the execution of our duties. I am here in the region, ready and willing to monitor all your activities. I know we are friends, party men, and brothers, but when it comes to our work and the President’s directives, we mince no words. We will not spare any situation to ensure that the best—and nothing but the best—comes from the Savannah Region,” he stated.

Mr. Be-Awuribe made these remarks during the handing-over ceremony to the newly confirmed District Chief Executive for Bole, Abdulai Mahamud, held in Damongo.

As the last of the seven DCEs to be confirmed, the Regional Minister urged Mr. Mahamud not to use the delay as an excuse but to collaborate actively with stakeholders to drive development in the district.

He added that the President has appointed capable individuals to all necessary positions to ensure the region’s effective functioning and that no excuses for delays in executing mandates would be tolerated.

Mr. Be-Awuribe encouraged Mr. Mahamud to move past his confirmation process and focus on working closely with stakeholders to achieve tangible results.

In response, the Bole DCE, Abdulai Mahamud, expressed gratitude to President Mahama for the opportunity to serve and pledged to lead with dedication, leveraging existing structures.

“I promise to be a servant to the good people of Bole District. I also pledge to use the existing structures to work. And so, wherever you (Be-Awuribe) see and think I’m going wrong, kindly point it out to me and bring me back into the fold,” Mr. Mahamud said.
