Reverend Charles Owusu has commended the Kumasi High Court for its ruling recognising both Priscilla Ofori Atta, popularly known as Odo Broni, and Akosua Serwaa Fosuh as lawful spouses of the late highlife icon Daddy Lumba.

Speaking on the matter, Rev. Owusu described the judgment as fair and balanced, noting that “nobody is a winner or loser” in the case. He praised the judge for applying both legal principles and common sense in resolving the dispute.

“God won in this case. When someone dies, the body doesn’t belong to the wife or friends; it belongs to the family. I applaud the judge; she’s smart. She worked with the law and common sense to deliver judgment,” he said.

Rev. Owusu expressed concern that some individuals were using the court proceedings to tarnish Daddy Lumba’s legacy and disrupt funeral preparations.

“Some people want to disgrace the legacy Daddy Lumba has built. Without the Abusuapanyin, no one can organise the funeral. No chief can dictate to the family. Papa Shee, who is not even a family member, should not be determining funeral dates,” he added.

He urged the public to allow the family to honour the late musician peacefully and with dignity.

The Kumasi High Court’s ruling officially recognises both women as legitimate spouses, allowing them to perform widowhood rites and paving the way for final funeral arrangements to proceed.
