
A raging fire on Sunday, August 31, 2025, destroyed several homes at Darkuman Kokompe in Accra, leaving residents counting their losses.
According to the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), the blaze ripped through a three-bedroom self-contained house and four chamber-and-hall apartments before fire officers brought it under control.
The Service said it received the distress call at 9:09 a.m. and dispatched two fire engines within a minute.
The first crew from the Industrial Area Fire Station arrived at 9:22 a.m. and fought the flames until 10:10 a.m. With reinforcement from the GNFS Headquarters, the fire was completely extinguished by 11:51 a.m.
Fortunately, no casualties were recorded, and adjoining properties were salvaged.
The cause of the fire is yet to be established.
