President John Dramani Mahama says Ghana’s internationally acclaimed Reset Agenda is restoring public confidence in the country’s democratic system while deepening accountability and good governance.

In his New Year’s address to the nation on January 1, 2026, President Mahama described the Reset Agenda as a fundamental shift in Ghana’s approach to governance, both domestically and internationally.

According to him, the agenda is already delivering measurable results at home, including a leaner and more efficient public administration, strengthened government accountability and a renewed, robust fight against corruption.

He noted that these reforms have helped revive public trust in Ghana’s democratic institutions, reversing years of declining confidence among citizens.

President Mahama also highlighted the global impact of the Reset Agenda, saying it has significantly improved Ghana’s standing within the international community.

He disclosed that during the 80th Session of the United Nations General Assembly, he presented Ghana’s vision for a fairer and more inclusive global system through the Accra Reset Initiative.

The President explained that the initiative is a comprehensive framework aimed at reforming global governance by addressing structural inequalities and expanding opportunities for Africa and other countries in the Global South.

He said Ghana remains committed to working with like-minded leaders across the world to advance reforms that respond to today’s interconnected global challenges.

“This is our moment. This is Ghana’s moment to lead,” President Mahama declared, reaffirming his administration’s resolve to position the country as a champion of reform, fairness and democratic renewal on the global stage.
