The Africa Library Project has supported the Nkwanta South Education Directorate’s Reading Festival Competition with the donation of 18 certificates and over 200 reading materials as prizes for outstanding participants.

The initiative aims to promote literacy among children in the municipality and improve the overall quality of education.
Presenting the items, the Regional Director of the Africa Library Project and CEO of Alms for All Foundation, Festus Okpora, commended teachers for their dedication and sacrifices despite recent unrest and instability in the area. He noted that the conflict had affected teaching and learning, adding that the reading festival would help sharpen students’ minds and boost their confidence.
Mr. Okpora explained that the Africa Library Project’s efforts to establish libraries in schools across communities in the Oti Region align with its mission to enhance education. He emphasized that reading equips students with knowledge, encourages discovery, and helps them become thoughtful members of society.
He also urged students in Nkwanta South to make effective use of the donated materials and develop a strong reading culture to expand their educational opportunities.
Receiving the items on behalf of the Education Directorate, Public Relations Officer Martha Yahaya said the books would significantly improve students’ reading skills. She commended the Africa Library Project for its continued support for education in the municipality and encouraged students, parents, and community members to actively participate in educational activities to strengthen teaching and learning.
