A heavy rainstorm has destroyed sections of the Presbyterian Basic School at Hwidiem in the Ahafo Region, ripping off the roofs of several classrooms and leaving both teachers and pupils in a difficult learning environment.
The Headmaster, Boampong Joseph, told Adom News that the severe downpour completely tore off the roofs of Primary Four and Five classrooms, making teaching and learning impossible.

He described the situation as urgent, calling on stakeholders, especially the Asutifi South District Assembly, to intervene immediately to restore normal academic activities.
According to him, the destruction has disrupted academic work significantly, forcing the school to operate under challenging conditions while awaiting repairs.

The District Chief Executive for Asutifi South District, Benjamin Assabil Donkor, visited the affected school and expressed concern over the extent of damage caused by the storm.
He assured that engineers from the district assembly had been directed to assess the situation, adding that immediate steps were being taken to fix the damaged structures.
The DCE further indicated that, at the latest by Tuesday, June 30, 2026, the assembly would complete the replacement of the destroyed roofs to ensure teaching and learning resume without further delay.

Also speaking to Adom News, the Ghana Education Service (GES) Director for Asutifi South, James Frimpong Manso, expressed optimism that the District Assembly would address the situation promptly to restore normalcy at the school.
Authorities have assured that swift intervention will be made to prevent further disruption to academic work at the affected school.
