A devastating rainfall has caused widespread destruction in the Krachi Nchumuru District of the Oti Region, displacing several residents and leaving many households homeless.
The affected communities include Grubi, Kokose, Kwame, Akura and other surrounding farming communities.
Several homes have been damaged, forcing affected residents to seek shelter with family members and friends.
Speaking to Adom News, some of the affected households appealed to the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), the Krachi Nchumuru District Assembly and philanthropic organisations to urgently come to their aid.
According to the residents, the disaster has severely disrupted their daily lives and placed immense pressure on families that are already struggling to meet their basic needs.
They believe relief supplies and other forms of assistance would help them recover and rebuild their lives.
In response, the Krachi Nchumuru NADMO District Director, Shadrach Njebi, together with a rescue team, has mobilised to the affected communities to assess the extent of the damage and support residents affected by the floods.
The team is currently on the ground in Kwame, Akura, Grubi, Kokose and neighbouring communities, assisting affected residents and monitoring the situation to ensure their safety and well-being.
NADMO has reaffirmed its commitment to responding promptly to emergencies and providing the necessary support to communities affected by disasters.
